A class to dip in a couple of levels [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-03-06, 01:43 AM I'm looking for a core or PrC class to dip one or two levels for extra feats or abilities. It must be lawful or good (or both of course) and give one of the following:
- Bonus feat, may be fighter feat or Divine feat.
- ability score increase, STR or CHA. Well, CON is ok also.
- DR X/-
- Any not common bonus to AB or AC, like sacred or unnamed.

08-03-06, 01:50 AM Divine Champion (Player's Guide to Faerun) gives a bonus feat at level 2, although it has Weapon Focus as a prerequisite.

08-03-06, 02:10 AM Pious Templar (Complete Divine)? Two level dip is Mettle and Smite. 4 levels is Weapon Specialization, another bonus feat, DR 1/- and 2nd level spells.

I wish I was dwarf tough, just to make the dwarf of my group get a level of hammer and anvil of moradin with me. Half-Celestial Template is neat.

No idea what Hammer and Anvil of Moradin is.

08-03-06, 08:44 AM I read somewhere Hammer and Anvil of Moradin, maybe it was on internet or in the PrC forum.
The Hammer class was a divine spellcaster PrC and the Anvil was a Martial class pretty similar to Dwarf Defender. When two dwarves, one being the Hammer and the other being the Anvil choose each other as partners, the Anvil gets Half Celestial Template and the Hammer gets Half Elemental Template (or something like that).
They also granted bonuses to each other while fighting together, for item creation, craft checks or somethign like that. They also had some powers that required both to be useable, like summon magama elemental or something along those lines.

08-04-06, 09:30 AM I like the 'Battle Rogue' from CArcana. Uncanny dodge and 2 fighter feats with two levels. No backstab though. Can't take it if you have levels in any other rogue class varient.

Full divine casting progression + full BAB progression + wicked saves that don't even exist + a good number of abilities?
But I really liked the concept of it, maybe we could work on the Anvil PrC on the PrC section and make it work together with Hammer from forgotten.

Dragon devotee provides a bonus to each of those stats at diffrent levels, even levels get a fighter bonus feat

08-04-06, 03:47 PM If your Cha is good, consider Marshal - the Motivate [attribute] auras are handy.

Knight is also pretty nice, especially if you're using a reach weapon.

Two levels of Binder can give you either DR 1/- or an insight bonus to attack or AC (but you lose one BAB). One level of Binder plus one or more levels of Knight of the Sacred Seal would give some more insight bonuses.

A level or two of Psychic Warrior would you give some fighter feats, plus you could qualify for War Mind which gives DR, ability boosts, AC boosts, etc. (not to mention the nifty Sweeping Strike ability).

He meant Unearthed Arcana. It's a really great variant book. I agree with Stickboy2323 about the human paragon. For 3 levels you get a bonus feat(any), 1 skill that is always a class skill, average BaB, +2 spellcaster levels, and a +2 to ANY ability.
