Noticing that most of the Seeker of the Song's attacks do not require a high mental stat to use or to save against (what attacks do have saves are based off of the Perform skill ranks) I tried to make a more martial Seeker build -

Human Bard 1/Fighter 4/Warchanter 3/Occult Slayer 2/Seeker of the Song 10

I'm lazy, but the Warchanter and Occult Slayer levels are actually alternated, in order to have one level at level 9 and one at level 10 to minimize cross-class ranks bought in Perform and Knowledge: Arcana skills.

This character can initiate a Seeker Song on the first turn of combat, along with Swift action Refrains to keep the damage going, while using their Standard actions to ready attacks against spellcasters, utilizing Vicious Strike to its' fullest extent. Mind Over Magic can also be employed as a offensive/defensive technique, if a spell comes your way. The character also has access to Inspire Recklessness, along with Heavy armor and shield proficiencies. Later, if spellcasters have been neutralized, the character can use full attacks (BAB +16) along with either Seeker Refrains or Inspire Recklessness with Power Attack to attack others.

IMO, the only "useless" feat this character has to take is Skill Focus: Perform.

For feats, beyond the necessary ones Power Attack and Improved Trip will be taken for sure, to maximize damage and to lower spellcaster mobility to make readied actions more efficient.

Any comments/suggestions? Note that I only have access to the Complete books and the old Class Guidebooks, and don't plan on acquiring other material for the build. Thanks!

Hmm, what about using one of those feats from Complete Adventurer, where your paladin or ranger levels stack for bardic usage? Then maybe go, what, bard 1/paladin 9/seeker 10?

I do really need to get CA...just got a job : )

Paladin and Bard don't work with alignment incompatability; I'd like to avoid switching alignments. But thanks for the advice!

Building a martial Seeker Of The Song is really a clever idea. I've just thought of mixing it with Chameleon, is that possible?

Maybe something like Bard 3/Fighter 2/Chameleon 7/Seeker Of The Song 8? Honestly, I don't know if Chameleon 7 grants anything useful, but I don't have the books with me right now.

The feat in Complete Adventurer takes this into account.

Thanks!

Y'know, at work, I was wondering about that... : )

I'll try and get the book sooner than later, then.

But the point of the build I did was to AVOID having to put a decent score in Charisma at all costs...it works perfectly fine with a 10 in there. 13 Dex and 13 Int, about, and then pump Strength and Constitution (Heavy armors are available). Still, if I get excellent scores, I could go Paladin instead of Fighter...but that would take a feat. Hmm.
