Hello, D&D aficionados.

Building a character for a Realms campaign. All time favorite is bard, but I'd like to add some combat to his repetoir. I'm planning on multiclassing with fighter and focusing on archery. We'll start 4th level. Build will probably move toward 2/3 Bard, 1/3 fighter.

We're sticking to core books, plus the Forgotten Realms setting book. Just wondering if anyone thinks this will be really underpowered in the end. I was thinking the xtra Hit points, BAB, feats, weapon proficiencies, and fort saves made the fighter multi worthwhile; but should I just stick with bard?

Thanks!

Hmmm, interesting. fighter4 is generally the break of point for fighters, if that.

fighter4/bard16 is quite good. It get's 16 BaB & a +3 inspire courage which suggests that you should probaly use TWF to get the most out of the bonus damage. However, it's still nice for an archer build.
paladin2/fighter2/bard16 is better if you can get around the alignment requirements (talk to your DM about making it do-able) due to cha synergy (cha>saves(
For an archer bard who's multiclassing you could go bard14/ranger6. It synergises better then fighter ihmo due to higher skill points. Plus it will boost 2 saves as opposed to 1.
