Just wanting to ask quick advice --

A friend of mine gets a huge kick out of being able to make stuff in-game, and is especially looking forward to being level 15 (he's 12 now) and getting Craft Construct. He's a straight-up cleric.

He would like to add some interest to his character by taking a prC, but without impacting his casting level too much (or at all if possible). Techsmith sprang immediately to mind, but upon reading it it seems kinda so-so on the creation side of things. Gondsmen kinda suck, unless there's rules I'm not familiar with that apply to them a la warforged. For the extra sphere/construct annihilation side of it, Techsmith's are fine. But.... they actually suck a bit at making things.

Can anyone tell me what another, alternate choice would be? Even if not a class, just some ruleset somewhere for building mechanical things. Or, a decent Techsmith build would be fine, if you're going to use the extra domain to, say, meet requirements for crafting certain things.

So, please, help with a prC for a guy who just wants to make robots, 12th level cleric of Gond.

Hmm, well there is the effigy master from complete arcane, but you need simulcrum on one of your class spell lists, a domain, maybe?

theres also maester in complete adventurer. other then that theres not many decent PrCs for magic item makers. the artificer base class would probably blow them all away anyways.
