hi. kind of new to the boards.

I rememer seeing a dwarf with a 100+ AC a while back and was wondering if anyone had that, or could point me in the right direction. I remember some Dwarven Defender levels in there, but that's about all i can recall.

any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the build in question, but Deepwarden prestige class lets you add your Con modifier to AC, so if you take that and then use Shambling Mound cheese and zap yourself a few dozen times with electricity you'll boost your Con and thus your AC rather quickly. Of course, the problem with this is how to gain the Shambling Mound's Electricity Immunity. The only way I'm familiar with is taking levels in Master Transmogrifist. So basically what we need is a Dwarf Wizard/Deepwarden/Master Transmogrifist.

Deepwarden requires base attack +5, 5 ranks in a bunch of skills (not hard for a Wizard with high Int), and Endurance. Master Transmogrifist's skills are also not difficult to meet at all, and it requires Eschew Materials, as well as being able to cast Alter Self and Polymorph (definitely easy for a Wizard). So, the build would look something like:

Wizard 7/Master Transmogrifist 1-4/Deepwarden 2/Master Transmogrifist 5-10/XYZ 1

Feats

1st: Eschew Materials
3rd: Endurance
5th: Craft Wand

And everything else is wide open.

Craft yourself a few dozen wands of Shocking Grasp, Polymorph into a Shambling Mound, and zap away. A single wand holds 50 charges, which translates to 50d4 additional Con, or +25 - +100 AC for a whole wand. You can burn through the entire wand in five minutes, and you only lose 1 point of Con per hour, so you can maintain uberness pretty much all day. Go through two or three wands and soon your AC (and HP) is astronomical. It might sound expensive, but to craft your own wands only takes 375 gp and 30 xp each, which will be a drop in the bucket by the time you're able to pull this off. What makes this really nice though is that at 10th level of Master Transmogrifist you can add one feature of one creature to the form of another creature, so you can Polymorph yourself into something really strong like a War Troll and then boost its AC to insane levels.

I'm sure there's better (and faster) ways to do this, but that's what I was able to come up with off hand.

I was the first to post the 100+ AC dwarf. Others helped improve it and posted their versions. I don't have a link to the thread. Sorry about that.

Here is my saved file, which may or may not be up to date. I usually work on that stuff in one of two ways. Either it's little by little before posting it, or it's in a quick flurry. After I post it, I never update my files with member suggested improvements. Rack it up to laziness.

Dwarven Defender

I was looking to make something a little different in the AC department. Something that could sustain a massive AC all day long, for every battle, without the need for buffs or polymorph trickiness. Of course, I looked at the dwarves defender as a possible base, but that whole “Look at me. I’m immobile!” schtick just doesn’t sit well with me. It didn’t take long to come up with this, so there may be mistakes along the way. It also goes with the interpretation that the Deepwarden’s stone warden isn’t limited by the armor’s max dex modifier. If there is an official ruling on this, I’m not aware of it. If there is, then the armor will have to change around a bit, but it shouldn’t affect the build too much.

TWF build with:
Shield Dwarf Mineral Warrior
Fighter 2 / Ranger 3 / Shou Disciple 4 / Deepwarden 2 / Tempest 5 / Great Realm Deep Defender 3

Con: 18 base, +2 racial, +4 template, +5 level, +5 tome, +6 item = 40 (+15)

1 - Fighter 1 - Improved Unarmed Strike, Weapon Focus: Unarmed Strike
2 - Fighter 2 - Dodge
3 - Ranger 1 - Mobility
4 - Ranger 2 - TWF
5 - Ranger 3 - Endurance
6 - Shou Disciple 1 - Toughness
7 - Shou Disciple 2 - Spring Attack
8 - Shou Disciple 3 -
9 - Shou Disciple 4 - Combat Expertise, (+3 AC), Heavy Armor Optimization
10 - Great Rift Deep Defender 1 -
11 - GRDD 2 -
12 - GRDD 3 - Improved Shield Bash, (+2 AC)
13 - Deepwarden 1 -
14 - Deepwarden 2 - (con to AC, up to armor max dex)
15 - Tempest 1 - - ITWF
16 - Tempest 2 -
17 - Tempest 3 -
18 - Tempest 4 - Superior Combat Expertise
19 - Tempest 5 - (+3 AC)

Razor armor +5 defending Heavy Plate +5 = 9 armor, +5 enhancement, +5 defending, +15 con = +34
Razor shield +5 defending Shield +5 = +2 shield, +5 enhancement, +5 defending = +12
Defending weapon +5 = +5 defending
Superior Combat Expertise = +20
Shou Disciple = +3 AC
Great Realms Deep Defender = +2 AC
Tempest = +3 AC
Fighting Defensively = +2 AC
Ring of Progection = +5 AC
Amulet of Natural Armor = +8 AC
Total so far: 10 base, +34 armor, +12 shield, +5 weapon, +20 superior combat expertise, +3 shou disciple, +2 great realms deep defender, +3 tempest, +2 defensively, +5 ring, +8 natural, fight defensively +2 = 106

The basics are to attack with your defending weapon, plus your defending weapon sheild razors (improved shield bash, TWF), plus your defending armor razors (ITWF) and apply all the defending to your AC.

If you don’t subscribe to the stone warden being unaffected by max dex modifier, then the armor needs to change. Perhaps to the Mithril Breastplate of Nimbleness. This will lower the AC down to 98. :(

So anyway, it’s likely there are mistakes, given the late hour and how fast I had to throw this together. Even so, the basic concept still works, and produces an impressive AC for all encounters, all day, every day.

So, have fun with it.

Cheers

Otto :)
