| mycroft6553608-03-04, 02:56 PM | I want to make a character that has a very high movement rate. Either a spring attacker or a scout etc. Now some of you might just say monk, but the monk is for chumps i say so here is what i got: level1 Barbarian +10 Unnamed celerity domain +10 (don't know name) quick trait +10 unnamed speed of thought +10 insight Boots of skate +15 enhancement Dash feat +5 unnamed Up the walls/jump: just useful with high movement I need a good race for high base speed (lowest ecl possible), and anything else that will inprove my movement |

| EatFlan08-03-04, 03:54 PM | feral gives you a boost too, shade template also. |
| Tilla08-03-04, 05:11 PM | Catfolk - ECL+1, in the MiniHB - favored class Ranger, +4 Dex, +2 Cha, +1 NA, +10 Base Speed Not sure if it's worth the ECL+1 to you. |
| allenchan08-03-04, 06:14 PM | I like Grey Orcs with their 40ft speed. A barbarian / Cleric Grey orc makes perfect sense from a flavor POV, too, and the get + to wis and str, I believe, along with other stuff. (+1 LA) |
| amalcon08-03-04, 06:18 PM | I seem to remember something about a werecheetah that can go mach 2 for a round a day |
| mycroft6553608-03-04, 07:30 PM | Any good ecl-0 races with a 40 base movement? I just want 80-100 movement with minimal feats and LA. I don't want this to be all my character can do so anthropamorphic half celestial cheeta isn't a character i want to play. I'm not looking for the fastest but a way to make a otherwise normal character very fast. |
| obrysii08-03-04, 11:21 PM | A Centaur Monk 20 w/ Horseshoes of Speed and the Saddle of Speed 5 in 3.0 could get pretty darn fast. 1,600ft movement in a run; 2,000ft movement with the Run feat. 400ft normal movement. (A monk in 3.0 increased their base speed by x3...so a 20th level centaur monk would have 150ft movement speed. Add the Saddle of Speed 5, which adds 50ft, you hace 200ft movement. The horseshoes of speed double the movement, so you have 400ft base movement). This no longer works in 3.5, and it would be ECL 26 to be that fast, anyway. |

| allenchan08-04-04, 01:31 AM | Originally posted by amalcon There are those rat-things in OA Nezumi! Oh yea. And I think they get +2 Con -2 Cha. Only problem is you have to look like a wererat :( |
| bowstar08-04-04, 09:21 AM | If you’re looking for speed this may help: If you want a standard race look at the 3.5 Faerun guide for the regional feat Fleet of Foot. Adds +10 to base speed. Take that and barbarian and there is +20. If you use the UA book there is a trait called "Quick". Adds a +10 to base but you -1 HP a level. And the ultimate speed freak (in my opinion) is found in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Xephs +2 Dex, -2 STR Base land speed +30 60 feet darkvision +1 to all saves against any type of spell *****BURST (SU): Three times a day you can put on a burst of speed by 10 feet, plus 10 feet per 4 character levels beyond 1st, to a max increase of +30 at 9th. Each burst acts as a competence bonus to your speed and lasts for 3 rounds each. Best of all there is no level adjustment. Hope this helps. |
| Tilla08-05-04, 10:50 AM | Hmm - minimal feats/ECl? I'd highly recommend the psionic race mentioned then... ECL of 0 beats CatFolks +1, and their 60 to the 40 is awesome. Regardless of race, after that, your best bet is as follows: Feat mentioned above (+10') Trait Quick: (+10') Barbarian (+10') Cleric 1 - Domain Celerity & Travel (+10') and (+10' from Longstrider) and (+30 feet Expeditious Retreat) I can't think of anything else without magic or magic items... Although I'd still recommend 4 levels of monk for another +10, those 4 levels are nothing to sneer at and bettern 90% of the PrC's out there. |
| Vapor IX08-05-04, 11:42 AM | Actually, the Xeph has a base land speed of 30 ft. Not 60 ft. Let's see. Feral Half-Minotaur Nezumi Ex-Barbarian 1 / Cleric of Fharlanghn 1 / Druidic Avenger 1 / Variant Ranger 1 / Monk 16 Base Speed 40 (Nezumi - Oriental Adventures) +10 (Feral - Savage Species) +10 (Half-Minotaur - Dragon 310) +10 (Quick Trait - Unearthed Arcana) +10 (Barbarian Fast Movement - PHB) +10 (Celerity Domain granted power - Complete Divine) +10 (Druidic Avenger Fast Movement - Unearthed Arcana) +10 (Variant Ranger Fast Movement - Unearthed Arcana) +50 (Monk Fast Movement - PHB) +10 (Fleet of Foot [ignoring racial req] - Players Guide to Faerun) +5 (Dash feat - Song and Silence) = 175 feet per round, base movement speed +30 (Expeditious Retreat spell - PHB) = 205 feet per round, buffed up I'm sure there are more items and such, but yeah. EDIT: Took out Longstrider, Skate, and Burst because they are all enhancement bonuses and don't stack with Expeditious Retreat. I'm not totally sure that using the variant classes that grant Fast Movement is kosher. But 205 feet a round without running is most excellent. |
| allenchan08-05-04, 03:46 PM | Can you use Rokugan? The Ninja class gives a speed bonus of Con bonus x 5, I think. |

Numbers like that are the reason I asked about horizontal damage (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=283493). |
