| bigcitygas09-06-06, 12:11 PM | I had an issue with a few friends concerning the Jump skill. Before I ask for better help, here a few things that must be taken into consideration. My character has Great leap (4th level Ninja) class ability, and thus, is considered having Run when jumping (+4 bonus), and is considered as if she was always running, thus, disabling the need for a running start for a long jump. My character currently has 60 base land move speed (30 normal, +30 enhancement from Expeditious retreat). If running (speed move x5 in this instance), I have 300 move speed. The Jump skills says... (Taken from the system reference) "Your Jump check is modified by your speed. If your speed is 30 feet then no modifier based on speed applies to the check. If your speed is less than 30 feet, you take a –6 penalty for every 10 feet of speed less than 30 feet. If your speed is greater than 30 feet, you gain a +4 bonus for every 10 feet beyond 30 feet." So given this rules' logic, if I run at 300 move speed, I obtain +108 bonus on Jump. (((360-30) / 10) * 4) My friends told me that Jump is only affected by my base land speed, in this case, 60 feet, since running multiplies your move, but would be abusive if used to Jump. Also, that Run already adds a bonus of +4 to Jump skills when a running start is engaged first. I told them the rule say "speed", not "base land speed", and thus, should get my +108 bonus to Jump, as per the Jump skill description. Who's right? |
