A Ghoul you don't want to mess with [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-07-06, 12:18 AM I am looking for optimal builds for a ghoul character that I will be using for a couple sessions. He was originally a cohort to another character but this time he will be a full PC.

I want to use the actual ghoul class to start off with from Libris Mortis since that is how he started. After that I dunno, was thinking something on the sneaky/assassin side and maybe lurking terror but I appreciate any suggestions. Last time I used him he was pretty useless in combat and he will be mainly used for that when I play.

He is also in the Posession of the sword of kas and will be lvl 20.

I have access to most books except, tome of battle, complete mage/psionic, dragon magic, and the eberon books.

Any comments appreciated, thanks.

12-07-06, 02:47 AM Mh, don't go for the ghoul-monster-class. Take the gravetouched ghoul template (also from LM)... for a LA of +2 it gives you some crazy abilities and mods.

Sneaky, eh? What about another LA of +1 for the dark creature template (ToM); some Ninja (CV) + Warmind (XPH) action for nice Wis synergy. Go for Ability Focus (paralysis) + Improved Paralysis (LM) for insanely high paralysis DCs. Paired with the warminds sweeping strike ability (ah, forgot about kas' sword... well, you can paralyze them and then cut them to pieces) this will be quite powerful.

12-07-06, 03:10 AM Power Attack, Cleave, Quick Draw, Improved Init, Death Blow, and all the rest go into your Paralysis attack. Three levels of Lurking Terror add +3 to your Paralysis save DC, so go for it. I'd suggest Multiattack, but you already have it, so no need for more.

Basically, first you Paralyze with your natural weapons, then you CDG with a Scythe and cleave the next guy.

As for the Sword of Kas, I don't know what it does (not savvy with Artifacts), so I can't really help you out in terms of what you should do with it.

That once a day CL 20 blasphemy from the sword can swing battles.

Ability Focus - Paralysis and Improved Paralysis.

Take the Lurking Terror class.

Get Death Blow and Quick Draw.

Now carry a Scythe. Hide, sneak up, and claw/claw/bite to paralyze.

Now lay them out with a quadruple damage scythe coup de' grace. Laugh as you cut their head off.
