The only problem is that Assassin requires that you be Evil. Are there any classes with a death attack that do not have this requirement? If so, how would you recommend building a Doppleganger with 20 character levels around the above concept? At the moment, the only thing I can think of that works is Monk of the Long Death from PGtF... And I can't seem to find anything that stacks with that. Ideally something *good* with Death Attack, but I can't find anything that gives that besides Slayer of Domiel, and that sucks. |

(+10 enhancement bonus), and if you can research a melee version of hunter's mercy, you have a one hit one kill attack... |

You must be Exalted though, and it requires 2 exalted feats and you to be Lawful Good. On this subject though, I would play Changeling instead of Doppleganger (LA +0 instead of LA +4 and 4 racial HD)... Character will end up much better with the same feel. |

Dark Hunter and Darkwood Stalker (both from CW) give death attacks without alignment requirements (though DS requires elf or half-elf). Black Flame Zealot (CD) is another option — any nongood alignment, I think. Now a Doppelganger is ECL8, right? (I don't have races of destiny, so they might have changed it there). That doesn't leave you much room to boost a death attack. Changeling would seem to give you more options. |

If you do that and don't mind mixing setting materials, the following build would do fine. Rogue 2/Cleric 4/Black Flame Zealot 4/Strifeleader 10 Strifeleader and BFZ with both give you death attack and neither requires you to be evil (although you can't be good if you use the BFZ). Either way, strifeleader is the best choice since you can be good and it has the best death attack in the game. As stated before, death attack isn't really the best way to kill things, even for an assassin build, but ifyou want it to be a part of the character then use strifeleader. Another non-evil PrC with a death attack is the stonedeath assassin from Races of Stone. If you can mod this one to allow other races, then it might fit the character well, since many of your assassinations will be carried out by sneaking into stone buildings (keeps castles and the like) to kill someone. Just a thought. |

Combined with Changeling it sounds perfect for what you want to do. Get in, shift form, death attack, run around the corner, Stones Hue, shift form again, run in opposite direction pretending to be one of the pursuers. |
