| Xahr02-09-06, 12:08 PM | Hi! I was thinking about a good character that you can play from level 1 to 20 (Maybe not that high, but i guess you understand). A lot of the optimized characters here, are based on a level 20 character, and will probably be quite weak at low levels. I know that a Druid 20, or Cleric 20 probably could do the trick, though it will be easy to multiclass into some PrC with Full Caster Progression. Now, does anyone have a character that they believe will be powerful from level 1, to level 20? Cheers! Xahr! PS: No, I'm not going to be playing the character, just interested :) |

Cleric and Druid are certainly the most powerful (unless you play Eberron, where they are both eclipsed by the Artificer) Most PrCs require sacrificing at least some low-level power to gain greater power at high levels. That said, apart from the multi-classing PrCs (Arcane Trickster/Eldritch Knight/Mystic Theurge and their splatbook kin), most of them are quite playable. As a general rule, though, casters are less powerful at low levels and more powerful at high levels; for melee classes, the reverse is true. In theory, you could do something cool with a Hexblade/Ur-Priest build. |

Starts as Wizard at lvl 1, become a Gish at level 4. Imo good enough to survive till level 4, at level 3 or 4 you should be strong enough on your own. Archer builds are imo very workable, though loosing a bit on the end (as most not magic based builds). Take a simple Ranger 3/Fighter2/DeepwoodSNiper2/CragtopArcher5/PeerlessArcher 8 Hm, straight WIzards builds are imo viable too, if you are willing to be rely on your group for the beginning and are fine with a support role. |
