| Mikal04-01-05, 04:44 PM | Hi all! I've finally found an epic game that I can play in, Level 25, and I've been itching to try out an epic warlock... but the question is, how can I maintain effectiveness at the epic level?!? If you can think of any good builds, please, share them! So far, I've been thinking of a pixie warlock, with maybe some sort of rogue levels thrown in. The +4 LA doesn't really mean much for this little bugger, and the size and stat modifiers kick a whole lotta butt for a warlock! If you have any ideas, bring em in! Oh, and any WotC material is allowed. |

DEFINITELY take a level adjusted race. Talk to the DM to try and create Epic Magic Items and qualify (maybe) for Epic Spellcasting. The warlock doesn't have a lot of material out on it so it is hard to optimize. |

Without any epic invocations the warlock fizzles out into the EB progression and nothing else monkey past a few more levels. |
| Evadyn the second04-01-05, 05:19 PM | Maybe mix som SA in there. |
| Mikal04-01-05, 05:34 PM | Maybe mix som SA in there. Well... yeah.. hence why I'm thinking rogue 1/War 12/daggerspell 8, maybe. of course, if i do that, i'd probably go Shade human. Same LA, some decent abilities, and I can take Able Learner to keep up my rogue skillage. |
| Mikal04-01-05, 07:42 PM | anyone else? |
| Aurelius04-01-05, 07:55 PM | You could go peerless archer, and power attack with your eldritch blasts. It's RAW, but might require some convincing for the DM to allow it. Though epic-level warlocks need any edge they can get. |
| lokkesmadr04-01-05, 08:15 PM | There is a great deal to be said for being undead as an epic level warlock. Utterdark Blast allows you to heal yourself at will and, if you combine it with Eldritch Chain or Doom, hurt others at the same time. |
| Axle_Steelcat04-01-05, 08:19 PM | What level of Warlock would a Lich Paragon Warlock be? Warlock should be able to qual for Lich IMO. |
| lokkesmadr04-01-05, 08:39 PM | A straight warlock does qualify for lich. The lich and paragon templates are at least +15 LA combined, but there's no official LA on the paragon template. So, 10 levels of warlock. |
| Mikal04-01-05, 08:47 PM | hmm... well if we go that high of an LA, what about a Pixie Lich? +8 LA, so my levels would be 17... which is slightly painful. |
| lokkesmadr04-01-05, 09:09 PM | Alternatively, become a Necropolitan at 3rd level, it has no LA but sets you back a small chunk of XP (2000, IIRC). Hmmm, downside, you have to be a humanoid or monstrous humanoid, so no pixies. Have you got access to Sandstorm? The Marrulurk (sp?) is vastly under level adjusted at 3 monstrous humanoid hit dice and LA +1. You get stat bonuses to most stats and 2d6 SA, among other things. That allows you entry to Daggerspell Mage or Arcane Trickster. |
| Glitch00104-01-05, 11:59 PM | Succubus. Its a total of 12 levels taken but the benefits are fantastic. The ability to teleport at will makes you nicely effective in combat cause you can poof around. The +16 to CHA makes your save DCs really nice.... I have an ECL 29 succubus warlock in an arena game and he's virtually unstoppable (other than antimagic which will stop a warlock regardless of level or race.) |
