A good Psychic Assassin build .. [Archive] - Wizards Community

The Mind's Eye article that published some new psionic rogue-type classes recently published the Psychic Assassin (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723d). I REALLY like this prestige class better than the DMG Assassin. Unfortunately, I don't have the new XPH which prevents me from making a good Psychic Assassin build.

Do any of you have any recommendations for a good build prefix for the Psychic Assassin? Again, I'm not an expert at psionic characters, so i'm not sure where to begin. I'll be building an 11th level Psy Assassin soon for a dungeon crawl campaign. and i would prefer to be a TWF combatant. i will be the designated rogue and trap monkey for the group - who are 2 Gish and a melee cleric.

the Death Attack does not interest me. it's not very effective for the DMG assassin, nor do i like its mechanical make-up in this prc. Intelligence will most likely be a dump stat for me.

any help or concept ideas would be appreciated. again, i;m sorry for not posting a build. it's just that psionics are totally brand new to me. Hence, i have no clue how to make a Psy Assassin build.

thank you!

Prefix: Psionic Rogue 5 (without an XPH pretty much all you got)

How on earth are you supposed to be the group's skill monkey and have Int as a dump stat?

Most of what's in the XPH made it to the SRD:

i will be the designated rogue and trap monkey for the group Because I never said I was the "skill monkey". I am the trap monkey. ;) To answer your perfectly valid question though, we have a Bard as a cohort. Whose feats are of the variety that give him bonuses to his skills. by the way, my dump stat of INT is still a 12. So it's not a total crippling of my skill ranks

I'd be curious if any of you would advise a Rogue 3 / Psion 5 (or something like that). You know, similar to an arcane trickster route.

thanks!

If you don't mind entering assassin late, you might go
Rogue 4/psion 2/elocator 4/Psychic assassin 10
ending up as a 10th-level manifester w. 7d6 sneak attack. Alternatively, you could go
Rogue 4/psion 2/elocator 6/assassin 8,
to get free psionic teleport and psionic planeshift.

Rogue4 doesn't seem worth it, as your uncanny dodge ability is duplicated in the Psychic Assassin levels. Why not psychic rogue? Same sneak attack damage and a few extra power points.

Rog3/Psion5 hurts your BAB and HP too much -- same as a standard AT -- and is suicidal for a TWF strategy.

If you don't like the death attack, I'm a little unclear on why you're not simply going with a Psychic Rogue rather than assassin.

Rog3/Ranger2/Kineticist2/IllithidSlayer3/PsychicAsn10
BAB +15
Saves 8/11/10
9th level manifester
+6d6 sneak
shadow mage

The psychic rogue and elocator are classes you wanna look at. Love the elocator, I make psi-fighter types using this PrC.

But elocator will railroad him into a spring-attack routine. I love the PrC too, though, and think it's a great support rogue.

now THAT - is a cool build. Any idea on good feats and psionic powers for a TWFer of this build type?

TwF might be usefull :p j/k

I would go with 1 weapon which you use in both hands will work better with weapon focus and stuff like that.
I would suggest spring attack route (donīt get whirlwind attack tough).
