I need a good race for a Cleric, preferrably without a level adjustment. Hm, and I think that's all I really need. My next character is going to be an (insert race here) Cleric of the Time and Nature philosophies, Neutral/Neutral Evil in alignment. Thanks.

The two biggest candidates are human and PHB elf; the first for the extra feat and skill point and the second for cleric archer goodness.

Dwarf or Gnome for the Con.

If you like melee tanking, Dwarf and War domain grants you dwarven waraxe proficiency + WF. But a shield + one hander is so-so for a caster, so I still prefer human (going for greatsword and perhaps PA+Cleave at level 1).

The +0 LA Lesser Aasimar is quite nice too.

Azurin is nice, because it still gets a bonus feat and the substitution level grants you an ability to use in place of turn undead that still works with divine feats. :D

Then take a level in sacred exorcist to gain turn undead and double your divine capability.

It pretty much depends on what kind of Cleric you want to be and what books are available to you.

Any of the PHB races work fine for a Cleric. Half-Orc Cleric of St. Cuthbert (Strength and Destruction) could be fun.

Aasimar is about the only +1 LA race that is worthwhile.

The duskling from incarnum is pretty good, +2con -2nt. Beats gnome & dwarf because ther medium but you lose int, not cha. Cha is better for clerics as it helps with turning etc.
