EK levels are good for bridging primary spellcaster levels with hgher martial BAB. They do not serve any constructive purpose for a tertiary spellcaster like a Hexblade. By adding EK instead of Hexblade levels, you get less HD, 1 less spellcasting level, less class abilities (which are good for a higher level Hexblade), & less good skills - so why would you go that route? Spellsword levels may also be of dubious value as well - unless you plan on wearing much chunkier armor in lieu of a few spellcasting levels.

Hexblade17 / Ftr2 / EK1 nets you 3 bonus Ftr feats with 17 spellcaster and class ability levels ... and much improved skills and HD. IMHO, that's the route you should take. Unless thicker armor is a neccessity for you ... in that case, Spellsword levels may be worth it to you.

Actually, I didn't even think about that aspect of the EK. For this build, I was thinking of getting heavier armor than a Hexblade normally can. A suppose more levels of hexblade instead of the EK should be there.

I must say i can't really see the point of taking EK with a character with low spell progression and full BAB.

Going Hexblade 14 instead of hexblade 8/EK 6 would net you 2 more uses of hexblade's curse, aura of unluck, 1 more caster level, more hitpoints and better will save, while you have a worse fort save. sounds like a good deal to me ;)

As for the levels of spellsword, i'd say its a so-so... granted, they give you better saves, ignore spell failure and channel spell, while losing a few hitpoints and some caster levels.
IMO it would be best to take only 1 level of spellsword, as that allows you to use a mithral chain shirt, while still giving you a caster level etc..

One reason why spellsword isn't that great a choise for a hexer is that there aren't really too many spells on the hexer list that you can use for channel spell.

If you can play an evil character, a good hexblade build might be Hexblade 17/ Blackguard 2/ Spellsword 1
This would get you dark blessing, which synergises well with the hexers high charisma, and gives you proficiency with all armors, needed for the level of spellsword.
progression would be something like hexblade 6(or8)/Blackguard 2(/hexblade 6-8)/spellsword 1/hexblade 8-17

ofcourse you could take 2 levels of fighter for the feats

Hexblades can already cast Hexblade spells in light armor... I don't think Spellsword would be much use here.

oh, my bad for not reading everything properly :)

a mithral breastplate should do just fine then ;) no need for spell sword then

might be just me though, never liked the full plate type character, i prefer mobility i guess :)
