The build-
BBN2/FTR4/HL3/FB10

Half Ogre
STR-18 (24)
CON-16 (18)
DEX-15 (14...added a +1 to the stats)
INT-13 (11)
WIS-13 (13)
CHA-15 (14...added a +1 to the stats)

Yes, an extremely strong 6 rolls....it made me very excited to start the campaign.

Feats-
power attack
cleave
great cleave
intimidating rage
extra rage
destructive rage
iron will
large and in charge
weapon focus:warhammer
divine might

Equipment- (at lvl 10)
+2 Warhammer
+1 Mithral Shield
+1 Mithral Full Plate
+1 Mighty Composite LB [+4]
Cloak of Resistance +2
Boots of Striding
Ring of Sustenance

The only thing I am thinking on is the 2nd lvl of barbarian could be better suited elsewhere....namely a lvl of ranger for a favored enemy (undead) and a bow feat.

And, he/she probably is looking for advice.

As for the build, I would drop Great Cleave (it is rarely useful) in favor of something like Close-quarters fighting (really, really useful for builds that prefer not to grapple...it even helps against Improved Grab, after all). I'd also drop Weapon Focus in favor of Combat Reflexes (you'll see greater benefit from that, IMO, considering your extended reach). I am not so sure that Divine Might is really worth it for you (+2 damage for 2 rounds 4/day? I could see a lot of other ways to use that feat...if you kept Weapon Focus, then Weapon Specialization would be a better choice, I would think). Cumbruous Will might be a good idea for a Frenzied Berserker (+6 to Will save would be a good thing when trying to avoid a frenzy; nice in other situations, too).

As cool as it would be to get the bump to Fort/Ref saves as well as the other level 1 Ranger goodies, it really isn't worth the XP penalty to add a level of Ranger to the build (favored class is Barbarian).

It seems like you are a little light on the equipment side...what books are appropriate to use in giving advice on equipment?

You know, sometimes I don't get this board: if someone posts that they have a basic idea for a character, maybe with some basic guidelines or ability scores, then they (more often than not) get met with derision and/or told that people don't just take requests for builds; if someone posts a complete build but isn't super specific about their needs, then someone (more often than not) feels the need to make a snide remark (as if it takes a rocket scientist to figure out why someone would post a build at the Character Optimization board). Is it really so hard to keep that sort of negativity in check? If you don't feel like helping someone out, why not just ignore their post and move on? Or at least be specific about your objections to what was posted (and advice for how to correct your perceived problems with it)...

hmm I think there is no real point in going FB in 3.5 over level 4...

at least not if you are not going the TWF route ( double power attack on each hand)

why don't you go

BBn2/Fighter2/Ranger1/Templar1/HL5/FB4/Witch Hunter3/Horizon Walker1/

FULL bab
VERY high saves
Cha to saves
smite evil
Level 6 HB casting
Not fatigued

actually, dropping Frenzied berserker is not that bad of an idea....I hated taking intimidating and destructive rage anyways...

Horizon walker offers quite a few cool abilities...resistance, tremorsense, dimension door every 1d4 rounds...

It also fits my character build well-the wandering paladin.

As for equipment, anything goes as long as it is official.

I personally think Divine Might is worth keeping -- getting CHA-boosts via spells or items isn't that tough.

If you want a wandering Paladin, why not simply be a Paladin. If Oriental Adventures is allowed you can work in the rage element through Singh Rager, I think

Pal3/Ftr4/SinghRager8/FistofRaziel4

Fist of Raziel is from the Book of Exalted Deeds -- neat damage bonsues and spellcasting progression. Here's a link from In the works (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20031012a). If that isn't legit you can add levels of Templar and Horizon Walker (both need endurance; getting the skill requirement for HW could be tricky w/o the Cosmopolitan feat).

power attack
extra rage
iron will
Ki Shout
large and in charge
weapon focus:warhammer
divine might
Servant of the Heavens (for Fist)
Two more

or

Clr1(Travel & Knowledge)/ Pal2/Ftr2/SinghRager8/HorizonWalker1/Templar1/FistofRaziel4
power attack
extra rage
iron will
Ki Shout
large and in charge
weapon focus:warhammer
divine might
Servant of the Heavens (for Fist)
Endurance

You can sub the War domain for Travel, and pick up another feat instead.

ADDENDUM: While Horizon Walker is nifty, I'm not sure you want to take more than a level. unless you're really into the concept. Your best synergy with the class will be at level 1 -- the tremorsense and d-door abilties will have to wait until level 6 or so, and you have better things to do with those levels.

I hope you can afford the armor by the time you are done which you will probably be able to any way, but it's going to cost you *4 the amount of a normal medium sized create for that mithril full plate and it's 9k, just for the mithril...., sheesh..

Simply cast resize a 0th level cantrip
changes the size of an item one catagory in either direction... duration permanent...

easily dispelled but if you grab yourself a rod of resize (cheap like borsh)

Don't think it works on magic items though. Might be wrong. But if you have clerical casting you don't really need magic armor... waste you money on better weapons.

only to throw this in:

BBN2/FTR4/HL3

does not qualify for HL: diplomacy is not a class-skill for any of these classes, no way to reach 5 ranks at lvl 6

BBn2/Fighter2/Ranger1/Templar1/HL5

hard to get 8 ranks in know(rel) as well as the 5 in diplomacy.
qualifying for HL first is a lot easier.

just go with my rogue/fighter/barbarian-base for HL and you are fine.

Laelenie, try to recheck your builds before posting them :)

I think Funny Slaughter is right, the better way is to use his basic build :

Holy Half Ogre (Battlefield Control build)

Str 24 / Int 11 / Wis 13 / Dex 14 / Con 18 / Cha 14
at 10. level

Progression

01) Rogue 1
02) Fighter 1
03) Barbarian 1
04) Rogue 2
05) Rogue 3
06) Fighter 2
07) Holy Liberator 1
08) HL 2
09) HL 3
10) HL 4
-----------------------------------------------
11) HL 5
12) Contemplative 1 (Luck or Celerity Domain)
13) Contemplative 2 (Slippery Mind and 7. Level Spellcasting with HL)
--------------------------------------------------
14) Divine Champion 1
15) DC 2
16) DC 3
17) DC 4
18) DC 5
19) Templar 1
20) Templar 2

Feats
01) Iron will
02) Exotic Weapon Spiked Chain
03) Wolf Berserker
06) improved trip (f), Power attack
09) Large in Charge
-------------------------------------------------
12) Divine Might
15) Combat reflexes (f), Knockdown
17) Weapon Focus (f)

Boots of striding and springing
Full Plate

What do you think ?

That would trigger XP penalties at Level 5 (rogue3/Ftr1/bbn1). Better to switch Rogue3 and Fighter2 so you're rog2/ftr2/bbn1, then take third rogue level prior to going into HL.
