| parkse03-25-06, 03:19 PM | Alright, here's the deal, my DM just granted my character a plot of land, and said that it would "behoove" me to take the leadership feat. Now, I've got my guy built all the way to 30, and there's barely enough room for JUST the leadership feat. Doing this, I want my cohort to be the Leader above all others (except for me of course :D ) I'm looking for the BEST Leadership build for a cohort. This is what I'd like for him to be able to accomplish: LOTS of followers Non-Undead Some way to make LARGE profits from his followers, on a consistent basis. The RP value, and setup is this. I am a member of the Thieves guild, that another party member is the Guildmaster of. She's like lvl....18 (I think) and I'm lvl 13. I am starting my own branch within the guild, of Spellcasting Assassin's (kings of Save-or-Die) as well as another branch for Mageslayers. We need some sort of front for business, to sell the things we steal, as well as to sell the legitimitely procured ore/metals/gems that we get from mines that on both of our lands. I'm a dwarf, necro, so I figure I can use that to some advantage. This is what I was looking at so far for my cohort: Dwarven Fighter, lvl 13 (yes my cohort will be the same lvl as me, allowed by the DM) lvl 6 Leadership Lvl 8 Might Makes Right Lvl 9 Extra Followers Lvl 10 Entourage(3rd party feat, to allow taking Leadership multiple times, stacking) Lvl 12 Leadership, Leadership This gives him twice the amount of followers as normal per Leadership, AND Leadership 3 times. Also allows strenght score to be applied to Leadership score. 3 Leaderships means 3 cohorts, each of which will then ALSO have a leadership build, BUT, not a fighter...each would be a representative of their branch, i.e. Crafter, Necro, Mageslayer. What do you guys think? |

Every day, have all your follows give you all of their worldly possessions and then commit ritualistic suicide... or rebel... or commit some other self-destructive act. Using them as meat shields is also acceptable. Your followers will be replaced every day, so just keep repeating the process every day... and when one city runs out of people then you just move on to the next. Oh, one fun way to kill em is forced labor to construct a grand monument to your greatness. |
| Tweedledope03-25-06, 04:09 PM | Hmm...if you want to use Might Makes right, go Warhulk. Instant Leadership bumps. |
| parkse03-25-06, 06:48 PM | Hmm....a Warhulk as my cohort is kinda a cool idea....that would get me quite the "Lord" for my followers to follow. Not sure though....the idea of an idiot as my cohort isn't all that fun sounding....any other ideas? I'm mostly looking at strategy on making money and such (other than having my followers give me all wordly possessions and then dying, DM wouldn't like that) |
| SoulGamit03-25-06, 11:52 PM | Ya... DMs never do seem to like that for some real reason. I believe there are rules in the DMG II and/or Power of Faerun for owning a buissness, you might want to look into that. |
| Bloodlust_the_Bold03-26-06, 03:35 AM | I like the tone of your setting of a whole network of rogues ... for a leadership toned cohort you could try more diplomacy ... a changeling rogue (using rogue substitution level) cabinet trickster with high charisma could help make your activities more "legitimate" Why pure fighter? I'm not sure if the fighter bonus feat can be used for feats such as might makes right, leadership and leadership as they are not fighter feats There are a lot of classes and prestige classess that are built on the concept of making your follower stronger i.e. marshall, bard, warchanter, dread pirate that might be worth dipping into ... As far as making money, why don't you just have aristocrats and experts (merchants) as followers ? There are a lot of crazy ideas on these boards on making money i.e. using spells to make silver pieces, walls of salt ... but my favorite comes from a story on the char development board, it was a necromancer that made and sold zombies as servants (since zombies don't decay after zombification so he made them simself), he was even selling "insurance" that he can make you an "awakened zombie" to make you live "eternally" Going a bit out of the box, an artificier cohort might also fit this role ... you can give him the leadership feats, and he can make a strong front as a store selling his creations, as well as making cool items for you and your followers. He can even retain essence from all the stuff you have appropriated from your victims By the way what book is entourage, it looks nifty |
| parkse03-26-06, 12:37 PM | I'd thought about the Artificer cohort, but DM won't allow Arty, because its Eberron...and he's not even allowing Eberron feats, let alone classes. Yeah, I just realized the whole problem with the fighter bonus feats, cause outta the book, leadership and all those are NOT bonus feats...so there's a small snag in that idea. I'll look into the different PrC's that give bonuses to cohorts and such, and see if I can come up with a comprehensive build to start off with (and post it for some helpful tweaks) Changeling Rogue eh? Is that from a Complete book....or from Eberron? I plan on making one set of my Leadership followers experts and aristocrats for the businesses and such....just not sure how to tweak it to make a good amount of money (My land is pure desert and I was told there's no minerals or anything in it....BUT, sand can be made into glass..... :D ) I'll check the boards to try and hunt down some of the Leadership threads. Selling zombies unfortunately won't work....DM considers ALL undead evil, and the Lord that granted me this land is LG. Am trying to work with DM at the moment to swing that train of thought though...considering in the campaign we came across a whole realm of undead that were neutral...NOT evil. Anyways, to answer your question about Entourage, its from a book called "Feats" put out by AEG. |
