Pallin Rahl 03-20-05, 03:41 PM	Alrighty... the character: Rogue 27. That basically give me 4 Rogue Abilities and 4 Epic Feats. (only 4 Rogue Abilities... as sadly, you seem to stop getting them once you hit the Epic Levels). Improved Evasion and Opportunist are just about too good to pass by as Rogue Abilities. If I want Epic Dodge (epic feat), and I do, I need to take Defensive Roll. That's 3 Rogue Abilities down. If I want the Lingering Damage sneak attack epic feat, and I do, I need Crippling Strike. ...that's all 4 Rogue Abilities down. Thing is, I've found that Dexterous Will and Dexterous Fortitude would REALLY help my Rogue out... as his Fort and Will Saves ...well ...they lack. Thing is, to take these two Epic Feats, you need the Slippery Mind class feature. So I'm debating... Is it worth giving up one of my previous Rogue Abilities to take Slippery Mind and pick these two others up? ...losing certain Rogue Abilites will make it so that I can't take their associated Epic Feats. ...losing the other two would ...well ...hurt. :p Maybe there's another way around the issue... some other way to easily get the Slippery Mind Rogue Ability... without significantly crippling my Rogue progression (most importantly his sneak attack progression)... I'd love to hear your opinions, etc on this... Have at it! :D
Caleth 03-20-05, 03:56 PM	The epic rogue can take rogue special abilities in place of bonus feats Special Abilities: The rogue does not gain additional rogue special abilities after 19th level, but can choose one of the rogue class special abilities (crippling strike, defensive roll, improved evasion, opportunist, skill mastery, or slippery mind) instead of a bonus feat.

Lingering Damage 3. ? 4. ? I want Dexterous Will and Dexterous Fortitude to be 3 & 4. ...can't do that if I spend one of them on Slippery Mind...
Squirrelloid 03-20-05, 06:19 PM	Check out the Thief Acrobat PrC, its on the WotC site somewhere. 5 levels with imp evasion and 2xdefensive roll (!). Probably taken as your first 5 epic levels. Frees up a lot of that rogue special room, eh?

Pallin Rahl 03-20-05, 10:12 PM	Opposite of a nerf? ...luv baby... luv ;) Only thing I'm concerned with, though, is that the Thief Acrobat does NOT have any sneak attack progression. Were I to take 5 levels of Thief Acrobat in my epic levels, I'd miss out on several d6 on my sneak attack... something I wanted to keep up. Rogue 27: 14d6 sneak attack Rogue 22 / Thief Acrobat 5: 11d6 sneak attack ...I know ...I know - sometimes you can't have the proverbial cake and proverbially eat it as well... ;) Just weighing my options. Hell, maybe there is just nothing to be done and I skip the Dexterous Will/Fort. ...maybe you suggest I dump something else to get them. ...I really wanted to keep up my sneak attack, though...
Elrathh 03-20-05, 11:29 PM	I suggest you just purchase some extra resistance items, and keep the other abilities. Of course, my rogue wasn't the target of spells most of the time...
PlutoniumKnight 03-22-05, 10:10 PM	You could take 5 levels of invisible blade and get the 14 d6 sneak attack though 3 of it only works melee, feinting, max out bluff and get some magic items enchanting it, get crippling strike, ptwf, Sneak attack of opp, imp com reflexes, and other things like marrowcrushing wounding weapons or something. You get 8 attacks per round with 16 bab and ptwf. This is mainly for sneak attacking things, if you want a skill monkey get a level in exemplar for a free slightly less powerful skill mastery. Rogues are versitile so you have to choose which path of rogue you want, sneak attack, skill, generalist.
