Hello there all you CO(ers?),

We just started a new campaign, and I am interested in really making my character stand out in combat. I am a kineticist

My char so far:
Level 3 Psion

Feats: I haven't had any time to build out(since we built and played or first session last night)I was thinking of taking psicrystal affinity for the second focus, and I also wasn't sure which metamagic feats to take.

Powers taken so far: Control Object, Mind Thrust, Energy Ray, Inertial Armor, and Psi Catfall. I haven't picked my level 3 powers yet.

Any help(or advice) you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a psionic specialist, as I haven't yet played with them yet (though I would love to). However here's some stuff that'll help.

Metapsionic Feats Thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=298304)

The following feats are common among psions:

Psicrystal affinity + Psicrystal Containment = Ability to hold 2 focii
Psionic Meditation = Ability to gain psionic focus as a move action, which allows you to apply a metapsionic feat once per round.
Overchannel + Talented = Increase your manifester level for further augmentation capability.
Extend power costs no additional power points to double the duration of your power. For many powers such as Inertial armor, this basically comes free for you because you'd be in a non-combat situation while manifesting it due it's already long duration. It also doubles the duration of powers such as temporal acceleration.
Empower Power is the best damage boosting metapsionic feat in a majority of cases.
Expanded Knowledge = Learn powers from another discipline, or psychic warrior powers. You can also research them if you DM allows, at the cost of Experience instead of a feat.Just as a side note, check the sticky threads up top if you haven't already. One of those threads includes a link to the 3.5 build FAQ. There might also be a link to a psionics handbook of sorts (or two) in there somewhere.

I was looking through the library and not seeing a psion library... there seems to be a psychic warroir one but thats not what I'm looking for. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough?

Hmm, yeah actually there might not be a guide for psions. Well, I checked the psionics board and found a few threads that'll probably help.
