Spellit26675 12-15-05, 09:07 PM	This weekend i am begining a new campaign. I am thinking about using a Goliath Ranger. Then taking 3 lvs in scout. and then finishing it up with a few levels in Highland Stalker (i think thats the name of the prestige class i dont have my books in front of me ;) ). Anyway im looking for advice on progression and feat choice also if anyone can think of a better build for a Goliath who specializes in combat then feel free to let me know thanks
dog45 01-13-06, 10:15 PM	This isn't so much a build but a cool trick. Goliath Ranger 5/ Deepwood Sniper 10 / Cragtop Archer 4 (ECL 20) Buy a +1 Heavy Crossbow of Distance. Now you have a range increment of 460 ft (Deepwood Sniper), and can shoot up to 15 range increments away (because of Cragtop Archer), which is 6990 ft. Heavy Crossbow - 120 ft of Distance - 240 ft Far Shot - 360 ft 10 levels Deepwood Sniper - 460 ft So now we have a single crossbow bolt traveling 6,990 ft in less than 6 seconds. Do the math to translate it to MPH - it comes out to approximately 780 MPH. According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_sound) the speed of sound at sea level is a mere 761 MPH. And now we have a crossbow bolt that travels faster than the speed of sound. How cool is that? Answer: very.
