| Orion95902-10-06, 09:36 AM | Hello again, everyone. So, a large group (9) of us are playing the Wolrd's Largest Dungeon. After building my character, I realize while the role-playing aspect will be a blast, the character itself will be a little...lacking. After helping the DM with a were-tiger savage progression for another character, he has allowed me to make a few minor changes to my character. I must still look the same, and keep my alignment (CN) but I can change my first level (Ranger) to something else. My idea is to make a slightly off-the-wall character with a huge libido. We are playing with 3 girls and 6 guys, and I think a fast-fisted, innuendo-casting character will bring a lot of fun to the game. We have played once already, and everyone seems to be enjoying the character. Here are my stats (rolled): 18, 16, 16, 16, 16, 15. [Please no comments, rolled in front of the DM.] We have access to any and all books, including Dragon but excluding other 3rd party, and NO FORGOTTEN REALMS! Also, we have all been given an 'artifact' tied to our characters that grow with us. Mine, in effect, makes me a Gestalt Soul Knife (but with only the mind blade abilities). So, what can I put together? I was thinking about a lightly armoured, two-weapon fighter, and I would like to keep the concept, but what could I do to put it together well? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |

Hehe. ;) Well, it seems your job is the weapon specialist tank. That said, I think the Fighter Variant "Kensai" is a safe bet to start with. This way you can get ahold of many attacks and still wield your weapon in two hands. (Which is by far the most powerful way to tank.) In this case fighter 6 is actually not that bad a choice. It gives you 3 feats and Chosen Weapon +2. Two of those feats could be Rain of Blows and Storm of Blows. Notice how these two abilities stack. Taking on a -6 penalty you will be able to swing 4 attacks at your highest base attack. With your scores going a little MAD wouldn't be that bad. Chaotic Neutral you say? That fits great with the Paladin Variant "Anarch". Three levels of this baby gives you Divine Grace, Slippery Mind, and Destructive Strike which are all great abilities. Both of these Variants are from Dragon Magazine and can be found on http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Classes-Base.pdf I have a few melee builds in my sig that benefit from both good physical scores aswell as mental scores. Its worth a click. :D Cheers. |

Wow, is that a blanket statement that has nothing to do with reality. Ok. Lets see here. Lets try this. It is a modification of a build I have, unfortunately detuned due to your alignment and what you have already, but it still works pretty well and I think may have just the flavor you are looking for. One stipulation, your mind blade needs to do slashing damage. The singing, dancing duelist. Stats: Str 16 Dex 16 Con 16 Wis 15 Int 16 Cha 18 1 Ranger Track, dodge, mobility, Flaw (party animal hedonist (shaky)), Combat expertise, Flaw (murky eyed (get some more sleep man), Weapon focus (mind blade) 2 Ranger Two weapon fighting 3 Bard Snowflake wardance 4 Bard 5 Bard 6 Bard Extra music 7 Fighter Improved two weapon fighting 8 Arcane duelist 9 Arcane duelist Elusive target (you just became uber tank) 10 Dervish 11 Dervish 12 Dervish Song of the heart 13 Fighter Greater two weapon fighting 14 Dervish 15 Rogue Craven 16 Dervish 17 Dervish 18 Dervish open 19 Dervish 20 Dervish Cha to hit and AC (with armor ON) as well as useful skill mods and a few extra bonus spells. +1/+1 to your mindblade thingy that stacks with everything else (arcane duelist). +2/+2 to whole groups attack and damage from bardic song (stacks). Lots of skills points, lots of skills, bardic knowledge (know it all). (If you want to put able learner in there, move the fighter level down to 10 to compensate and move eveything else up (i.e. rogue to 18, elusive target to 10, extra music to 9, etc..) Great AC, tracking, awesome saves, 17 BAB, and all the fantastic dervish abilities. Towards the end (level 15) tons of extra sneak attack damage (get a ring of greater blinking). Slyver |
| Xeraph02-10-06, 03:22 PM | Aww come on Slyver, you know the power of the Lancer. Leap Attack and Pounce is a fairly easy tactic, that can instagib if optimized right. And since its this simple you could make most tanks Lancers and still have room for you favorite prestige class, it could even save your average Ooze Master. :D But yes, if one wants to TWF your build is brilliant at such. Snowflake Wardance is just great! No doubt about it. One add to it is The Bloodtouched Rite from Players Guide to Eberron (pg 23). Oh and 2 levels of Avenger (Paladin Variant) wouldn't hurt either, guess thats not so easy to fit into the build though. Another route is Shiba Protector. And with a Paladin level, the Serenity feat and a Monk level you end better of than going bard in the first place. Rogue 1/ Fighter 2/ Ranger 2/ Paladin 2/ Monk 2/ Shiba Protector 1/ Dervish 10 Bab +17 Craven Wisdom to Saves, to AC, to Saves, to Hit, to Damage. And the Fighter levels could still be Kensai Variant making room for Rain of Blows. Sure you loose out on Bard spells and Song of the Heart. But you are almost single score dependent, or what I like to call SAI. Hehe. :D Cheers. |
