| Shadow Adept08-16-04, 12:55 PM | Hya :) Now that my Char has made it to 10 I feel that the power of a melee will slowly decrease with the upcoming levels. Therefore I am looking for ways to maximize him ( using just core rules ) so he can keep up with his party members in the future. It's basically a fighter/rogue with the intent of making every strike a kill. At the beginning of combat he will charge using a two-handed katana and power attack to take a flat-footed opponent out ( this however is becoming less frequent as the challenges and the HPs of our foes rise ). After that he will either re-stealth again ( ring of invisibility or scroll ) or use spring attack and flanking ( or true strike and power attack ) to get another killing blow in. Due to his rather low AC he will seldom attack if he isnt sure to down his target, because else he will oftentimes just be tripped / held / ganged up upon. I thought about the Assassin or Shadow Dancer PrCs but I've come to the conclusion that they offer nothing that UMD can't duplicate, and my DM wont let me take the Assassin PrC anyway. So what I am looking for is the best Feats to take ( planning for Improved Crit ) , clever uses for UMD ( the party wizard can craft wands and the cleric has the feats to create magic arms and armor as well as wondrous items, but cant be bothered to sacrifice much more xp than they already did ), and best way to handle encounters you cannot end that quickly. Some Char Info Ftr4/Rog6 Str : 20 ( including Belt of Giant Str + 4 ) Dex : 18 ( including Gloves + 2 ) Con : 16 ( including Amulet + 2 ) Wis : 8 Int : 13 Char : 9 HP: 84 AC: 22 Attack: +15,+10 / dmg 3d6+10 ( + 1 Shocking Greatsword ) or +7,+2 / dmg 6d6+26 ( sneak attack + power attack ^^ ) Feats: Improved Initiative, Focus: Greatsword, Specialisation: Greatsword, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Power Attack, Skill Focus: UMD; Maxed out skills: Tumble, UMD ( + synergy Skills ), Move Silently The other three party members are a wizard who spends most of the combat in greater invisibilty, a sword/shield barbarian/rogue and a cleric with high AC who does most of the tanking. So how do I continue in a way that allows me to end challenges quickly trough massive damage even as they become tougher ? |
