ok

This is a challenge for all you brilliant minmaxers out there:

Using any WOTC material except for the MHB

Create a twentieth level character with the most strength possible
(this includes items that you can buy with the starting gold that a twentieth level character would have)

(note this is his strength at his maximum eg while raging etc)

Lets see who can come up with the build for the most strength

Thats weak.

You didn't even post stats or anything. Whats the point of this exercise anyways? Most of us do this min/max thing as a challenge, how to fit a specialized concept into a viable general build that can adventure in any setting blah blah blah.

Highest Strength? I buy an Epic Belt of Strength +12 and also have someone cast Shapechange on me, and I turn into a Firbolg or a Titan. I put all of my stat points into Strength, and am also a cleric of a deity that grants the Strength domain, which I take only Cleric levels of, or I take levels of Barbarian/Frenzied Berserk/Berkserker with a Fury weapon etc etc etc.

This isnt very fun, I am going to go try to make a triple threat build or something, or go pick my nose.

I'm not going to take a stab at this, but c'mon, you guys know what he meant.

Then the OP should have been more specific.

I'll help to at least try to validate this thread by posting something, though.

Human Barbarian 4/Human Paragon 3/Bear Warrior 10/Warshaper 3
Choose UMD as your class skill from Human Paragon.

STR 18 base
+ 5 levels
+ 5 inherent
+ 6 enhancement
+ 20 bear form (unnamed)
+ 4 morphic body (unnamed)
+ 2 paragon (unnamed)
+ 8 righteous might (size) cast from scroll
----
68 STR

This isn't trying very hard, though.

Epic Character of all Strengthiness:

Living Vault (Paragonal)

Strength = 95 base
+10 inherent
+12 enhancement
+05 Wish
_____
= 122 Strength.

And it has feet (move 30', cant run) and an AC of 80 (+12 luck, +12 insight, +60 natural, -8 size, -2 dex). It cannot attack you, but can hold any amount of Basketweaving materials equal to 25,000 sq feet!!

Thank you you wonderfull people.
Isnt it just so nice when people can post on forums without getting flamed to death. It is so good to finally find a forum that is full of nice non-flaming people once in a while, i really enjoy it </sarcasm>

Seriously people, if you dont like the thread DONT POST IN IT. It really is that simple. There is absolutely no cause for flaming apart from trying to increase your "cyber-ego" and i have to say to all you guys who flamed me that this is really pathetic. I honestly expected that this might just be a forum free from you pathetic flamers but obviously i was wrong. I have to say a proper thankyou to Trapspringer for actually not flaming me and trying to get you guys to stop.

Thank you Trapspringer

:teach: - any flames aside: the general etiquette for this particular forum is to post a build, then ask for critique (I think that this is stated in the FAQ - have you had a chance to read it?).

Why not take a stab yourself (or build on LordArkans offered build) then repost? I'm sure that you'll then find everyone more than willing to help - the key being _help_, rather than create a build for you.

Luck to you.

How much time do I get to 'prepare'? A 3rd level cleric with a decent wisdom can cast Lesser Restoration twice a day, right? There's a disease in the BoVD that gives -1d3 con and +2 str per day. Just keep failing your saves, and your restorations will be enough (on average) to keep the con loss under control. Given some arbitrary amount of time to prepare, level 3 cleric beats all of you. :D

Disclaimer: I didn't come up with that one, though I don't recall who did.

flaming? seriously, my flaming detector doesnt work, i see no flaming, only some bored regulars that dont take you serious.

there may be several reasons for this:
- we had about a bazillion "challenges" about exact this topic
- without any given outlines and such a high level a challenge is worthless

btw, i cant really mention the PrC because its kind of banned here, but i think infinite strength should make the winner. takes some time of, ahm, dancing, though...

lol, <smacks the ban abuser> bad Funny! Bad!

Seriously though TLiD, I was in a bad mood when I posted early this morning, but I agree with San and Funny here, post something for us to beat, or give us real requirements/builds to work within (levels, money, etc etc).

I wasn't actually flaming, I was just being unhelpful in the extreme.

Thankyou for apologising Satori. I do realise that i may have gone a bit off the scale when i accused you all of flaming and for that i am sorry.
ok
lets start again then

start with 18 base strength and a 25 point buy for the remaining stats (the 18 strength doesnt count as any points used but you cannot increase it any further at the starting level) with a level 20 character. You have the base starting gold that a twentieth level character would receive and you can buy any item that is printed in a WoTC D&D product (Except MHB) 3.0 is not allowed but the splatbooks that were printed with it are (anything that has been reprinted in 3.5 is what you should use i.e no using old versions of items/classes when there is a reprint available) You have no preperation time this is as soon as you start (ie you cannot do the cheese with the infinate cleric restoration). Any roleplaying requirements are already met (for prc's and such)

this is what i get

18 base
+5 level
+5 wish
+5 tomes
+6 belt of ogre strength
+4 warshaper
+20? for bear warrior
+2 mineral warrior
+12? half stone golem graft

total of 59 ( i am not sure if any of these do or do not stack so...)

ok

Your turn
:schemes:
Funny Slaughter

wish and tomes give the same bonus, they dont stack.
you can do better then +2 with a template
you did not show a valid build

You can't stack metamagic in 3.5.

Forget the base 18 strength.

Use Polymorph or Shapechange to get Firbolg form (base 36) and then go from there.

Cleric 14 / Contemplative 6 (Trickery, Strength, Pestilence, +1 domains)

Curse of Lycanthrope (+16 for werebear, lower for others)
Arm of Nyr +2
Belt +6
Death Knell +2
Strength Domain +20
Curse of the Brute +20

I'm already bored, but I'm sure there are a lot of other things to add to this.

Cheers

Otto :)

Doesn't Strength domain increase with Cleric Level, not Caster Level? It's an Enhancement Bonus anyway, so it overlaps with your Belt.

(Qaetar)
Otto the Bugbear

04-30-04, 11:26 PM
Curse of the Brute is enhancement too.

I guess I should have clarified that I was just listing some options for increased strength, not to use everything at once.

Anyway, good catch.

Cheers

Otto :)
