| Wolfwood201-31-04, 01:36 PM | I am joining a new group, and the DM has promised a brutal game where the strong whimper and the weak perish. Because it will just be two players and the DM, each of us players are going to play two PCs. So I am looking for ways to maximize the effectiveness of having two PCs who will work with one mind and one purpose. (My mind and my purpose, naturally.) The DM has a non-standard character creation method. Basically, all scores start at 10. Add to them until your total _bonuses_ equal +10. Odd scores cost no more than even scores (so obviously all non-max scores should be odd). Dropping a score below 10 nets you no extra points. Even with racial adjustments, no score is allowed to go above 18. Example: Str - 18, Dex - 15, Con - 18, Wis -11, Int - 11, and Cha -11 would have total bonuses of 10. We start at first level. The DM claims all official WotC books are in, and we are going to be playing 3.5. For one character, I have my heart set on doing a barbarian/ranger working towards the Horizon Walker prestige class. Two levels of barbarian, three of ranger for the Knowledge: Geography and Endurance feat (stopping to take the Extra Rage feat at third level), and then it's off to Horizon Walker. I don't know about the second charcter, though. I was thinking a cleric as a good support class. Does anybody have any really good synergies for where two characters working together can gain greater power? |

Use something like mean liar's tactical monk build and any rogue progression giving alot of sneak dice...kinda weak in the early but effective and very disruptive later on. just my two cents. |

CW's Phalanx fighting and Shieldmate from the Miniatures book used with Tower Shields and Full Plate would give a 27 AC possible as soon as you can afford the full plate as long as the two of you stayed within 5 feet. At 4 BAB you can get Improved Shieldmate for another +1. A fighter and a cleric using this setup could be a real pain for anything trying to melee you, the major downside would be being limited to light weapons. |
