| MoonMaster0606-13-06, 08:45 PM | I just made a Paladin, I have never made a Paladin before and now I have no clue on what to get him equipment wise and classes to complement his abilities. I useally make evil fighters and I only know evil classes and evil equipment. I don't know any equipment for good characters or classes to make them better. |
| DarthDave06-13-06, 09:53 PM | What about the paladin class drew you to it? Why did you diversify from the standard evil array and jump headfirst into a class that can be difficult to roleplay, let alone optimize? To better help you, please provide us the details of character creation specific to your campaign. Stuff we need includes: races, stats, party composition, books allowed/not allowed what you hope to accomplish with this character- specifically. |
| UMiskatonic06-14-06, 12:53 AM | Paladins are a bit stretched when it comes to abilities and feats. Here's some general advice, and if you post more details, I'll try to make it more specific. Paladins are short on feats, overall. Starting with two levels of fighter, and then becoming a paladin is a easy fix. After 6th level, paladins don't get a whole lot. While paladin spells aren't bad, most paladins pick a prestige class early on. Dwarven Defender, Pious Templar, Eldritch Knight (w/sorc), and Cavalier are popular, there are of course other options. Paladins can't turn undead very well, but divine feats can make those turning attempts worth thier weight in gold. Divine Might, Divine Vigor, and Sacred Healing are the ones I see the most, in that order. It's easy to make a paladin with all the mounted feats, who is crazy dangerous on a charge. Surprisingly effective too. Most paladins are either slow, stupid, or both. Having Str, Cha, Con, high, and possibly Wisdom too doesn't leave a lot else. A holy weapon is a great choice, as is a vest of resistance, and all the armor you can buy. No reason not to have full plate. |
| Xeraph06-14-06, 03:30 AM | In the Paladins case I think you can aford not to buy a vest of resistance, you get divine grace. Adn with that a huge boost to saves. Id rather see my gold spent on better armor or items that get you mobility like Boots of Striding and Springing, Slippers of Spider Climbing, Ring of Feather Falling ect. Also, if you have access to Dragon Magazine Compendium you might wanna get the Serenity feat. (This is what I tell most Paladins hehe). It removes the need for a charisma score all together, so you can rely on less scores. But, as DarthDave said. We really need more info on where you wanna take this character before we can actually give you better help. Take a look at my signature for the Posting Guidelines. They will help you on your way. Good gaming. |
