You ever had a really bad night with the dice its like they are intent upon seeing you fail. Thats really what happened to me when I rolled these stats.

STR 8
DEX 7
CON 16
INT 12
WIS 8
CHA 8

I may get some small respite with the 12 points I rolled in addition. these points can be added to any of the scores on a 1 for one basis split up anyway. The stats as they are are set in stone. With the one exception that two can be swapped once for example I could switch INT and DEX and thats it the rest would be as is.

Normaly ladies and gentleman Id come here looking for optimization help this however is simply trying to make the character viable. My goal was ultimately a melee class with high AC and damage output I dont know how to achieve that now. Any and all advice is welcome.

The campaign is a second level game with in the forgotten realms. the complete stuff all FR stuff and dragon mags are up for use. Im really up the proverbial creek here any advice at all would be helpful.

PS Before anyone mentions why not reroll stats the above is the best of 3 rolls. Bad rolls, its like having an STD one horrible night ruined everything.

Eh ... ugly.

Every class needs CON. You need to find a class that needs one or at most two other attributes.

Druid? Spend all the time wild-shaped? Wizard (pumping INT and DEX only)?

Silly question, what happens if/when you die? Reroll? What are your class/race restrictions?

Master of Many Forms can make up for any stats. I'd put the 12 into dex and do Wildshape Ranger (UA Variant) 5 -> MoMF 10. You'll be replacing your dex and str. Throw in Shifter as a race for some free stat boost (you can Shift while in wildshape) and Warshaper 3 for +4 str/con on top of MoMF. You'll end up with an archer kind of in the beginning and turn into a crazy bear after level 5. Remember to talk to your DM about equipment and wildshape, you may have to walk around naked for a while so your stuff doesn't meld.
-you can also put your 12 into Wisdom and go Druid 5 with Shifter. Use your animal companion (it's better than a fighter usually) or replace your animal companion with the Beast Spirit for a bonus to stat. Survive 5 levels by summoning stuff and taking melee feats.

Your other option is Planar Shepherd, for reasons everyone should know. I hear Balor druids don't care much about their stats, considering they can free wish them all +5. It's Eberron though.

So hang on... You could put 10 points into str and start with Str 18, and the other 2 points into Dex for Dex 9? So you'd have Str 18, Dex 9, Con 16? Then just swap Int with Wis to shore up your weak will save, and you're good to go.

Be a dwarf and you'll have 18 Str AND 18 con, plus nice bonuses to your spell saves (again shoring up the weak will save). What's not to like?

I have no class or race restrictions but Id like to avoid an LA race because Im starting at second level.

That's not so bad, really. Just pick something with low MAD, and rotate your CON score into the key slot, and then spend enough points on the rest of your attributes to get them up to 10 or so, then use the rest to boost whatever's useful.

This group of stats and those 12 points can be made to do almost anything except maybe a ranged-fighting paladin gish. ;)

Put 10 points in Strength. Play a dwarf. Put the other two points in Int, if you don't want to roleplay a complete idiot.

Other than that, it depends greatly on alot of other factors, like: what books are available, how long do you expect the game to last, etc.
