| Nightingale07-13-06, 05:30 AM | Hello again. If you hadn't already gathered from the name of this thread, I have a question about the starmantle cloak in the book of exalted deeds. This cloak allows a DC 15 reflex save to take half damage from an attack from a magical weapon. My question is if my character has Evasion, and he makes his save, does he take damage? Evasion states that instead of dealing half damage the effect deals no damage at all. So does it apply? Or is this particular effect not actually a spell and thus not subject to evasion? Any light that could be shed on this would be greatly appreciated. NOTE: If this question had been asked before, which is undoubtedly has, please frogive me and provide a link to the thread. Cheers |

There is not stipulation against various target designations. In general, these are going to be area of effect attacks, but they don't have to be. 2) The Starmantle will not turn Natural Weapons into light and destroy them. :) Lucky for all those monks and critters, yes? 3) Evasion will not work in conjunction with the Star Mantle. Although the Star Mantle will allow a reflex save vs. a melee attack with a Magical weapon, the Melee attack itself doesn't normally allow you to make a reflex save for half damage. Even though the Starmantle enforces that rule, evasion won't enhance it as it only functions against attacks that Inherently allow a reflex save for half damage. Good Luck and Game On! Brandon.
