A question on shurikens [Archive] - Wizards Community

I know in 3.0 you could throw three with a single attack. So, here's the deal: Is this still the rule in 3.5 or can you only throw one at a time now (I found no mention of 3 at a time in the 3.5 book)? Also, do you get your strength damage added in for throwing them or, like other tiny weapons, are they too small for strength damage?

The question revolves around a level one monk with an 18 STR. Assuming he flurries and hits with all six attacks he is looking at a 30 damage minimum. Is this correct or are there some rules being violated?

Shurikens used to only do 1 pt. of damage which was why you could throw 3 of them per attack.

Now they 1d2, and are considered ammunition so iirc you can draw them as a free action much like pulling arrows from a quiver and I believe you also can add your Str bonus to dmg.

So, no...no more 3 per attack...and I don't believe you were able to add your Str bonus to dmg before in 3.0 when you could throw 3 per attack.

Hrm... well, that seems quite a bit more balanced. Thanks!

They -are- special monk weapons and, as such, -can- be Flurried, though.

Being that Shurikens are considered thrown weapons you are allowed to add your strength bonus to damage. They are treated as ammunition for purposes of drawing them, crafting special versions of them and what happens to them after they are thrown.

As Darhelion stated, you may flurry with them. You may also include the Rapid Shot feat for an additional attack; albeit with a -4 penalty to all attacks made that round.

either way...just my 2 cp

Don't forget TWF.

4 shurikens a round at -6 to hit. Might want a decently high Dexterity.

and be a halfling monk, but with sub levels from RotW for skirmish damage, and when combined with Sparing doll of the master from Arms and Equipment Guide, you get skirmish damage after taking your 10' step :p
