| stinkygoblin02-19-04, 05:31 PM | is a barb or a monk a better grappler/tripper? |
| Master of the Squirrel's02-19-04, 05:34 PM | Entirely situational. Depending on what feats, race, or prestige classes the person takes, one could be just as good or better than the other. |
| Snow Savant02-19-04, 05:37 PM | Neither. The Druid is the Grappler King. Albeit with a tightly structured build. |
| stinkygoblin02-19-04, 05:39 PM | okay snow why is the druid the best grappler/tripper. is it b/c of wild shape |
| Funny Slaughter02-19-04, 05:53 PM | one of the factors in trip is size, and the druid can easily beat most mundanes in this factor. except wolf berserker (which is very limited rp-wise anyhow) a druid can get any grapple-feat exactly as a monk. another factor is strength and druids can get some high scores from wildshape. animal growth adds some good numbers to both, at the end of the career shapechange tops nearly all existing stuff (as usual with shapechange) a monk has the advantage to get IUS for free and improved grapple as a possible bonus-feat, but on the long run he cant compete with monsters. try to compete against dragons, they are some of the hardest to grapple creatures due to high strength, high BAB and good sizes. you wont compete with a non-caster in dual-digit levels. gs Funny |

I can get a grapple bonus around +61 with a barbarian/bear warrior build or a +68 with a shaman one. (+83 with a gestalt one.:smirk: ) I do not think that you can reach such high numbers with a druid build. (same equipment) Still the druid option (along with the shaman one) is by far the strongest in overall terms. Almost maxxed grappling while retaining all of the druid (great) goodies. And druid tend to get their grappling capabilities earlier than others. |
| Ivarrius02-19-04, 09:09 PM | What is this 'gestalt' thing I keep hearing about? |
| Aranan02-19-04, 11:02 PM | An optional rule from the Unearthed Arcana book that allows you to progress as two characters at once (i.e. first level you start as a Ranger1/Wizard1, then at second level can become a Ranger2/Wizard2) |

Actually I'm guessing they would both use the same animals. Not sure which one gets access quicker. |
