I'm designing a back-up character for my DM's campaign, he's a tiefling 5th level ranger/2nd level assassin/1st level mortal hunter (book of vile darkness).

I'm just wondering whether a tiefling can take mortalbane (BoVD), i reckon it can, even though it's spell-like ability doesn't do damage. Also, i'm using the 3.0 DMG (never bothered to shell out for the new one) so i'm assuming the requirements for the assassin prestige class are the same.

Any suggestions on gear for my character, future feats or classes would be welcome as well, thx.

If you're only in Assassin for Death Attack, then look at Wilderness Rogue 2/Ranger6/Horizon Walker 6/Telflammar Shadowlord 6 which gives you 5 Terrain Masteries, as well as the (optimal) Shifting Planar Mastery, which lets you dimension door around a lot. TSL gives you the Shadow Pounce ability, allowing you a full attack after any teleportation effect (ie, dimension door). TSL also grants Death Attack at 6th.

Wilderness Rogue is an Unearthed Arcana Rogue variant, Horizon Walker is from the SRD, and Telflammar Shadowlord is from Unapproachable East. Also, for core material, you can always check the d20 v3.5 System Reference Document (check sig).

[EDIT]
Oops, Mortal Hunter levels...uh, drop Ranger down to 3 to get it; hopefully you'll still qualify for stuff. I'm shooting from the hip (as I often do), so to speak.

Which book is the SRD...?

I`d love to play a Horizon Walker6/Telflammar Shadowlord6 once...:P I`m currently a Swashbuckler2 with 20int (going lvl3 for int to dmg+hit), and I`m considering going into Dervish. If Int is the absolutely most important stat as a Horizon Walker/TSL, I`ll rather take that route, since I`ve got a low charisma, which kills the length of my Dervish dance...:P

str10,dex15,con12,int20,wis9,cha7. Would that make a decent SB/HW/TSL?

We`ve got Unapproachable East, but I need the book in which Horizon Walker is written...:P

Gotta say I looove Nightcrawler, and playing something like him would be awesomeness to the max:D

System Reference Document. Its the three core rulebooks, without any Product License material (like the iconic characters). Everyone aught to know what this is. Therefore, Horizon Walker can also be found in the DMG.

RPGhaulsass, you are also wildly off-topic, trying to divert attention away from the original poster. I'd stamp you, but that might get people to not post for the OP.

Also consider Dark Hunter from CW, which gets Death Attack at level 5 (which is good, b/c it ups your DC) and gets full BAB, Hide in Plain Sight-like ability and stonecunning.
