| architect07-25-04, 02:16 AM | Hello all... I've been reading these boards for a while, and I wanted to ask you clever fellows a favor. I'm planning a high level adventure, and what I need is a good number of particularly tough NPCs. Now, I honestly don't have the time right now (nor a lot of the book resources) to do the building properly. So, I'm appealing to y'all to strut your stuff. I need, basically, 3 characters for each core class (Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Bard, Monk, Sorceror, Wizard); one each of good, evil and neutral alignments. What other levels in whatever classes these characters accrue is completely in the air, so long as they START in one of the aforementioned classes... and I'm pretty open about races. In sum, these NPCs are going to be 'fulcrums' for a sort of cosmic chess game, in which the PCs will be at first involved, and then perhaps find themselves players. Who they make allies with, and how they deal with them, along with the plots strewn between these NPCs (who will have connections and rivalries, friendly and unfriendly), will determine how the story goes. These characters should be tough. Get as crunchy as necessary. Consider standard money for their level (in this case, 15). No need for backgrounds... I just need the minmaxing. The only thing I ask is that all feats, PrCs and the like come from WotC sources (FR material, Eberron, Complete Warrior/Divine, etc.), though Rokugan material is also acceptable. Any help is most welcome! And I'll be sure to tell you how the NPCs do, if I happen to use the build. |

| fruits and vegetables07-25-04, 12:22 PM | well, if rokugan and the oriental adventures are acceptable then everybody can use iajitsu focus. Chessy but it is not a trained skill. Technically anyone can use it. Which means at the start of any combat everyone can make an iajitsu roll for extra damage. Someone tell me if i am wrong. This came into question in a game and we could not find anything that prohibitted it other than it being cheesy to allow. |

| Ranthanas07-25-04, 01:07 PM | Pull builds out of the 3.5 build threads. IIRC they are both linked from the 3.5 FAQ and from both Funny Slaughter and Sysyphos' .sigs. Also, what style of character and play do you want? One on one or teamwork? (One on one, Barbarian 1/Bard 4/War Chanter 10 isn't much use, but as part of a mass combat he's scary). If it could be any, I'd expect the Good guys to use champions, the neutrals to team up and the evils to go every man for himself. Also, unless you have Unearthed Arcana, you might want to rethink having a requirement for neutral paladins. |
| architect07-25-04, 01:32 PM | Ok, one thing at a time. Forgot to mention builds: 32 pt. I'm not really concerned about whether the builds are team or solo; I can plug-n-play, regardless of what people come up with. Part of the reason I'm canvassing for these builds is to get a variety of modes of play. Different people enjoy different strategies. I'm shooting for a wide range. If you give me a team player, I'll give the guy minions to work with. I've been eyeballing the various 3.5 build threads, and am still reading through a lot of the material there. What I'm asking for here is essentially for other folks to use their elbow grease for me. Give me stats, feat selection, favored spell combos, class combos. If you have equipment ideas, I'll take them too, but they are not as important to me as the rest. I can reasonably fill in the gaps here and there.... this is also a grand help to give my players a few NPCs to deal with that are unfamiliar from a number/strategic sense. Re: Paladins; House rule states that a paladin is essentially a champion of a given ethos, be it good, neutral or evil. Abilities polarize appropriately. The party in question has an average level of 15. thanks for the interest, folks - |
