A Second Challenge For The Optimizers [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-18-06, 01:49 PM Im about to run a campain in my own custom world and am in need of a few things. The campain revolves around the concept of the 4 horseman in which ill need to make their characters to best suit the role they play and optimize their abilities to that effect! And so I ask you to assist me in their construction and possibly even post it. Now this isnt me trying to be lazy and get other people to do my work for me, But me actually getting opinions as to how best to go about creating these characters.

Now these are the books I have access to and will have to (And I apologize) ristrict you by using them alone in assisting me because I dont want characters in which the players wonder where the material came from and I dont have it to provide.

Currently I have access to
Defenders of the Faith
Book of Exalted deeds
Complete Divine
Book of Ultimat Feats
Complete Adventurer
Arms and Equipment
Dungeon Masters 3.5
Players 3.5
Song and silence
Vile Darkness
Fiend Folio

Now this is what I was thinking of sofar:
War - Paladin - 6 /Blackguard - 7 / Thrall Of DemoGorgon 7
Pestilence - Wizard 3 / Cleric 3 / Mystic Thurge 7 / Cancer Mage 7
Famine - Vampire / Cleric / Life Drinker (Havnt figured out level progression yet)
Death - Not sure

Also Im creating a huge Goody Good to assist them who will only be known to them as Saint!
Im thinking something along the lines of the saint template found in BoED along with levels of Paladin and prestiguing into Devine Crusader for the remaining 10 levels

So it would look like Saint +2 / Paladin 8 / Divine Crusader 10

Any Ideas or assistance would be apreciated. If you use feats please let me know which ones they are and where you got them out of the books I have allowed and own!

I find it difficult to suggest since I'm not familiar with most of your books

04-24-06, 02:31 PM Challenges belong in the Optimization Challenge forum. If this is not a real challenge, please rename the thread.

Please look at other work before you ask. Chances are your questions have been answered and are easily adaptable to your campaign.

Make Death either undead or a necromancer. Make Pestilence something like a Blighter or a Talontar Plaguelord.

There are really only three books that you need to replicate these nightmarish individuals: The PHB and the Book of Vile Darkness are good starts, but it would help if you went out and got a monster manual I 3.5 as well. This book is standard equipment if you're planning on running something.

Death = Undead (Probably a lich or a Wight, possibly a shadow - MMI)
Pestilence = Cancer mage (BOVD)
Famine = Lifedrinker (BOVD)
War = Disciple of Dispater or Mortal Hunter (BOVD), leaning toward mortal hunter.

Given the books that you have stated as being available, this is the best I can do for you.

In this case, the thread is appropriately placed. These are real characters and therefore belong here. The Optimization Challenge board are for excercize builds.

04-24-06, 09:54 PM For death, why not keep it simple. A ghost who is also either a Cleric 20 or Wizard 20. You don't have to get exotic with this one. The staples like slay living, destruction, finger of death, power word kill, death spell, phantasmal killer and the like work real well.
