AcidAngel 10-10-05, 09:26 AM	I need help in making a really BBEG with this build: Drow (male) True Vampire Cleric (What domains would work best) Wizard (I'm thinking generalist wizard for the more spells available, I don't have my books so I can only check if that is possible for this build later.) I'm not too sure what to take at first level (ECL 2 +12+1class if my calculations are correct. correct me if I am wrong) wizard or cleric. True Necromancer (LM). This is for a long term recurring bad guy. Have fun.
El_Machinae 10-10-05, 11:05 AM	If you want access to arcane magic, you could get the vampire to take the Magic domain and use scrolls and wands. You could even use nearly-expired wands in order to prevent the PCs from getting too much 'stuff'. As well, look at the spell-stiching template. That way you don't have to dilute the cleric levels.
Aramas 10-10-05, 11:59 AM	Remember to use CR and not ECL for this guy. What level do you want him to be? What books do you have available? Are you dead set on True Necromancer? Because straight cleric can be just as effective.
Khan the Destroyer 10-10-05, 01:32 PM	I think it is worth noting that male Drow cannot be clerics, at least not in any traditional Drow city (unless I am mistaken). If you would like to control many undead, a wizard can do it, though not as well as a cleric can. You also have the ability to make spawn, so you have some undead under your control through that medium. I second the Spell-Stitched Template. What CR would you like for this guy? That way we have a better idea of the limits we have to help you.
Spellbinded 10-10-05, 02:09 PM	In traditional, Lolth based Drow society, yes, there aren't any male drow clerics. However, there's always Vaerun for those guy elves who want a divine connection. And Spellstitched is thirded here...it's an excellent way to get some high-level arcane spell like abilities without really trying.
AcidAngel 10-12-05, 03:26 AM	I was browsing in the BoVD and LM and came up with a revision Drow (ecl +2) true vampire (ecl +8 / cr +2) wizard (1st class taken) - 3 levels cleric (death and magic domains) 3 levels master vampire - 3 levels - (Monster PrC LM pg55) true necromancer - 14 levels - (PrC LM pg63) life drinker - 10 levels - (PrC BoVD pg63) This would give a 35 level character at CR 37(?) The idea is lots of undead minions (vampire spawn, zombies, ghouls etc.) before the PC encounter the BBEG. What kinds of things (in the build) would make him a real tough challenge.
Funny Slaughter 10-12-05, 10:43 AM	when building challenges in these levels you should try to achieve a other goal then putting some nifty classes together. it seems that you are quite fond of vampire. but ask yourself: what abilities a vampire possesses are a real threat to characters around lvl 35? are you prepared for a lcl 35 cleric turn check? can you withstand the spells (especially epic ones) of your party members? if you are not going for something very dependant on casterlevel i would work a bit further with templates. paragon for example gives quite some benefit. find yourself some tactic for a combat you want to use, tailored around special spells, certain abilities and synergies with your minions and you are good to start over (and be prepared for hellofa lot work, epic is just wrong...) gs Funny
Malcoren 10-12-05, 08:27 PM	Can we get some clarification as for what levels you need this guy at? If this is purely Epic, I'll pass. If it's something more reasonable, say in the 10-16 range, I'm all up for it.
