I've been wanting to play a Swashbuckling Rapierist for a hell of a long time now, and I'm finally getting my chance to make one!

I want to make use of the spring attack feat since I have never used it before. I find the feat add's a lot of flavour to the fight, and it's also tactically one of the best feats out there. Run in, get a quick stab on a flanked opponent and then run back out. Genius!

I want my character to be sort of a daredevil. A character that is willing to fight alone, or with a group. A character that can run across, or maybe even charge across difficult terrain. I don't want tables, chairs, holes, or anything to get in my way when I'm making my way toward an enemy, or when I'm making my escape.

I was also thinking of making use of the Combat Panache feat in the Players Handbook II. I find it would add alot of flavour to the way my character fights.

Another feat I had in mind was Improved feint, once again, I think it adds to the flavour, and would be really useful in a duel.

I haven't thought about a build just yet, and I've never really made a finesse fighter before. I'm somewhat limited to the amount of classes I'm allowed to take because my DM doesn't like the fact of min/maxing a character. I think he would allow me to take the famous Rogue/fighter/swash routine with enough convincing, but 3-4 classes is really cutting it close.

I haven't rolled my stats just yet, but we are using the 4d6 method. You can assume that I would have a total Modifier bonus of +10-15.

I would really appreciate your opinions on how to build on my Swashbuckling Spring Attacker. Thanks! :D

Spring Attack is really a bad attack routine, unless you use it for tactical purposes (taking advantage of an exposed flank) - the single strike it normally affords is not worth the price of admission. Iterative attacks are where the damage is dealt. Spring Attack DOES however build the Dodge->Mobility chain toward Elusive Target (Complete Warrior) and now Bounding Assault->Rapid Blitz (PHBII). If you don't have either of those two books, don't get Spring Attack.

You will want Thief-Acrobat (Complete Adventurer) for its nice movement related abiltiies.

Thanks Phoenix Inferno, I know spring attack isn't very heavy on damage, but we're going to be a team. I just want to be able to get in and out of the fight quick enough. Any other ideas that would help me with the theme? I guess he doens't have to have spring attack, or any of the other feats.. But you get the point, I want to be an acrobatic swashbuckler!

Any 3.5 book is allowed.
