Just a quick thought on this already-hyped PrC... what if we throw in Slashing Weapons with reach in the mix?

You essentially get to poke your opponent with your Glaive (or Guisarme?) while manuerving around unscathed.

I know this sacrifices alot of potentia attacks through TWF, but the incredible flair of this fighting style is godsent (Eliastree? ;))

To keep this character concept fun yet still effective, I really need your help. Anything (Feats, Class level breakdown, PrCs) that involves a reach slashing weapon and Dervish is great

How about Barbarian 1/Ranger 3/Bard 2/Lasher 3/Horizon Walker 1/Dervish 10

You end up with +19 BAB, fast movement, pretty good hitpoints, a bit of sneak attack, a favored enemy, very nice saves and skillpoints for a melee character, bardic music and spells, and access to ranger wands too. Which class you take first depends on whether you value hitpoints or skills more, but I would probably start with Ranger as it's a good compromise.

You're strictly light armor all the way, but you'll be able to run around at eventually 55 feet per round and Tumble if the need arises. Take Desert terrain mastery of course, and fight with a whip-dagger or two. Between TWF and Crack of Fate you'll be able to unleash a hail of attacks while keeping well out of harm's way. While you're at it, you might as well sing too. Whip it, whip it good!

How do you get to 55'? I thought Dervish capped out at +15', and, being named "Fast Movement", wouldn't stack with a Barbarian's "Fast Movement".

you could always grab monkey grip and duel wield glaives.

Well, 30'+10'+15'=55', so obviously Stoned Golem thinks it stacks. Please note that while (at least according to the SRD) Barbarian Fast movement is untyped, Dervish fast movement is an Enhancement bonus (like the Monk's fast movement). By existing stacking rules, they do stack.

Actually, I believe Barbarian/Devrish fast movement stacks :)

Devrish fast movement is an enhancement bonus, and Barbarian fast movement is an unnamed bonus.

balefire42, I thought Monkey Grip allows you to hold a larger weapon without extra effort; thus a character could monkey grip a Large Glaive in two hands, but not two Medium Glaives in both. Please correct me if I'm wrong :)

oh, maybe so. I haven't seen the 3.5 version, but in 3.0 it let you do that.

How about the OA Dervish
Shaman 4/Samurai 2/Dervish 3/Blade Dancer 4/Dervish 7

You have to cross-class Tumble a bit, which is a drag. If you're having trouble building your Tumble up in time to make Blade Dancer you can either take it at a later level or you can swap Samurai for Rogue and watch the skillpoints pour in, although it costs you another point of BAB and the fourth level of Blade Dancer. Evasion wouldn't be bad either because of the good reflex save. You can even use Monk instead if you're planning on ditching armor altogether and/or want some defense in close quarters while using a reach weapon. Either way you'll end up with at least +18 BAB and pretty good hitpoints, around d8 average or so.

Shaman is nice because it gives you Dodge as a bonus feat and the War domain lets you pick any weapon you feel like using, probably the Glaive or Scimitar in this case. Blade Dancer gives you crazy mobility and a +10 to Tumble doesn't suck either. Even if Dervish and Blade Dancer fast movement doesn't stack, you'll still never have a problem getting all your attacks in while dancing. To add insult to injury you can just air walk above your opponents' heads while striking them with your Glaive from above.

I think that Dervish is one of those rare Prestige classes you need to take all the way to 10th level, just because A Thousand Cats is Bruce Lee on Crack good.

I put a build up a little while ago...Swashbuckler 3/Fighter 4/Exotic Weapon Master 3/Dervish 10 that was all about the double scimitar (from Arms and Equipment). The weapon tricks EWM gives you go a long way to adding versatility to an already impressive set.
