pro str (no finesse):
- really improved trip-check
- more dmg from str
- one less feat
- jump, swim and climb boost
- more carrying capacity

pro dex (with finesse):
- tumble, hide, move silently, sleigh of hands, balance, escape artist and open lock boost
- more aoo
- more ac
- broader "advanced feat" selection
- better initiative
- better reflex save

so what would you suggest ?
i personally ordered the arguments in my order of importance
edit: forgot to mention aoo, thanks kurio

Don't forget with more dex, more AoO's possible a round from combat reflexes. It's a must have with spiked chain.

Snow Savant's chain tripper optimized build focuses mainly on dex. It's probably the better choice, especially when using a rogue.

Except that the Gatling Tripper is absolutely dependent on feats. Rogues don't have enough, even if they sacrifice all their special abilities.

Why do you want to make a tripping rogue, exactly? Chain's a decent choice, but the rogue naturally leans away from a tripping strategy.

If you do decide to go this route, you need both high strength AND dex, and don't bother with Finesse. Something like Wolf Totem Bbn/Rogue/Exotic Weapon Master

the idea derives from the "old" thief acrobat (he got trip for free, among other things).
and there is the style factor.

feats aint that problem, because that rouge is going to exchange sneak attack dice for feats (ua variant).

btw: anyone knows an easy entrance for shadow dancer without those overlapping abilities from a rouge ? needs a good bunch of feats, though, to make this build xxx / shadow dancer 8 / thief acrobat 4 playable...
