| Sir Morbid12-12-03, 12:46 PM | OK guys what do you all think of this build (only splat books and DMG available) Human (28 point build) Str - 8 Dex - 10 Con - 12 Int - 14 Wis - 8 Cha - 18 1. Sorc - Heighten Spell, Spell Focus Divination 2. Sorc 3. Sorc - Mounted Combat 4. Sorc 5. Sorc 6. Sorc - Ride by Attack 7. Sorc 8. Sorc 9. Hospitaler - Energy Substitution (Acid) (Pick up Protection and Glory Domains) 10. Divine Oracle - Pick up Divination Domain 11. Contemplative - Pick up Mysticism Domain 12. Divine Oracle - Spell Focus Evocation 13. Elemental Sav 14. Elemental Sav 15. Elemental Sav - Greater SF Evocation 16. Elemental Sav 17. Elemental Sav 18. Elemental Sav - Empower Spell 19. Elemental Sav 20. Elemental Sav Here's what I'm looking at. While Hospitaler and Contemplative don't add to arcane spell level, they do give extra spells known. Hospitaler also states that spells can be converted to healing spells just like a cleric. The mysticism granted power applies Charisma to all saves. By 11th level, that should be around +6 minimum. The 2nd level of Div. Oracle grants an evasion like ability. In the end I get 5 extra spells known per spellcasting level, fantastic saves with evasion, Evocation spells with a tough DC, and can heal like a cleric. The drawback is of course giving up 2 spellcasting levels. So, what do you all think? |

Read the spell progression paragraphs for each of those PrC's, both of them add to your divine spellcasting level, whereas the Divine Oracle adds to one of your previous spellcasting levels. At the end of this build, you'll be able to cast arcane spells as an 18th lvl sorcerer who has the Divination domain spells to pick from and cast, and also a 2nd lvl divine spellcaster with access to Glory, Protection, and Mysticism domains, plus 1st lvl cleric spells. I'm not saying it's a bad build, it's just not what you thought it is. |
| Sisyfos12-12-03, 03:33 PM | Toomre is right. The standard "versatile" sorcerer build incorporates atleast 7 levels of Mage of the arcane order (T&B). Then he would have access to all arcane spells that are in the spellpool. Sorc6/MaAO7/XX7 is pretty versatile by itself. You could pick up mysticism domain during those last 7 levels, or just start żour way through incantatix for the metamagic fun the class offers. Sisyfos |
| Sir Morbid12-12-03, 03:39 PM | Thanks guys. Will now probably modify to remove Hospitaler and possibly add Archmage instead. My DM only allows Wizards to go into MotAO so that's not an option. |
| ksbsnowowl12-12-03, 04:06 PM | You could add levels in Sacred Exorcist in place of hospitaler and gain the Exorcism domain to your arcane spells known. In fact, that is probably one of the best possible PrC's for a sorcerer. Eight more spells known, 3/4 BAB, d8 hit die, full caster progression, and undead turning along with three extra turning feats. You could then add divine feats for extra goodness, if you were so inclined. |
