Pre-Question: (concerning 3.5 material only) When concerning character level do ECLs count? I know they don't cout as Hit Dice because you don't got them. But since it is 'Effective Character Level' I'm thinking they do count as character levels. Reguardless if it really does or not my character has the Vow of Poverty feat and since it is a substitute for wealth should any ECL monster adjustment count? From the SRD: Also use ECL to determine starting wealth for a monster character. Also another little thing the half-celestial template (the ECL adjustment in question) has spells based on HD in the MM but spells based on Character Level in the Savage Progression (Web Enhancement). I've always really used only HD to calculate the spells but I just realized it would take epic 21 to get the HD 17 ones, and they aren't really that great for that high a level. Now for my main concern... Core Topic: (concerning 3.5 material only) My character is a VoP monk6 and I'm finding I'm lagging behind in party usefulness (not that I'm the only one but...). Later the problem will get much worse I'm foreseeing according to the increasing trends I'm seeing now. Since my monk serves the god of Healing & Waters (created god), I took Stigmata for fun; actually I'm finding it kinda fun (it is totaly useless in combat but fun RP-wise). Since there are celestials around I was thinking of perhaps evolving behond what I am now into a half-celestial. I like the idea of a half-celestial with my Nimbus of Light, plus it fits my goal pretty nice. Question: What level should I take my Half-Celestial at? I'm planning to remain a pure monk and use the SS template progression to half-celestial. (I was thinking around levels 12-15) Human Male Monk6 (VoP): Stats: STR 17 DEX 16 CON 16 INT 12 WIS 16 CHA 14 Skills: Diplomacy, Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Spot and Tumble all maxed out (9 ranks). I have Sense motive at 5 ranks. Feats: Sacred Vow, Vow of Poverty, Nymphs Kiss, Touch Golden Ice, (unchosen 3rd level feat), Nimbus of Light, Stigmata and (unchosen 6th level feat).
