| Melfid09-04-05, 10:10 PM | Sorry i dont have the exact post but i know i saw it some where. It was basically this: Wiz6/Divine Oracle 10/Arch 4. My question is how do you cast the 2nd lvl divine spells that are required to become a Divine Oracle???? Please help me on this because i love the idea and it would help my group immensly because we have no healer and we are all first lvl. Please help me ty. |

| dirkformica09-04-05, 10:19 PM | Also, Divine Oracle does not provide access to the Clerical spell list by default. It just continues caster progression in a line you already had access to. So the Wiz6/Divine Oracle 10/Arch 4 would have full Wizard caster progression, but no divine casting at all. For healing spells by a Wizard, the Arcane Disciple feat from Complete Divine and the Healing Domain gives you access to all of the big heal spells. But you'll also need to take Domain Spontaneity if you want more than 1 of those spells per spell level. I don't have the book, but I have read the PrC Combat Medic from Heroes of Battle may help in an Arcane healer type build. |

But you'll also need to take Domain Spontaneity if you want more than 1 of those spells per spell level. In addition, the Arcane Disciple feat is a pretty horrible feat for a Wizard since your WIS score is often a dump stat. Meaning your access to Healing Domain spells above low-level ones are highly improbable ... and highly sub-optimal at that. |
| X-Codes09-04-05, 10:42 PM | Getting a Wizard that can heal generally requires 5 levels in Combat Medic. Considering that Clerics and Bards are better party support and have access to more healing spells, they are usually better healers than even a wizard with 5 levels in combat medic. |
| Hanniball09-04-05, 11:46 PM | The feat Extra Spell from Complete Arcane, IMO, grants an arcane spellcaster access to divine spells to add to their repertoire, however they become arcane spells. Thus, a 13th lvl+ wizard could select Heal as a 6th lvl spell to add to his spellbook and party healing is pretty much taken care of. Note that Extra Spell specifies that the level of spell chosen must be one level lower than the highest level spell that you can cast. It does not specify an arcane or divine denotation and even goes on to state the purpose of the feat allowing access to spells that the character lacks access to and would be unable to research. Either way...just my 0.02 cp |
