| Dartanel07-03-05, 10:50 PM | Ok, done snickering? Good. We're about to go into a political campaign focusing around a LE nation of arctic dwelling people who worship necromancy. I wanted to make a bard/dirgesinger/war chanter focused around music and undead leadership. But then I went to do the math and I can't get into either class until after 6th :weep: which means I have to give up the master abilities of one of the classes, which was kinda what I was taking both classes for. So, I decided to ditch war chanter, but I'm not sure what to replace it with. I basically want to build the class around music, rather then bardic spellcasting. Right now my current favorite is Seeker of the Song. So I've got something that looks like: Human, NE Bard 1 - ??? , ??? Bard 2 Bard 3 - Skill Focus (Perform) Bard 4 Bard 5 Bard 6 - Requiem Dirgesinger 1 Dirgesinger 2 Dirgesinger 3 - Undead Leadership Dirgesinger 4 Dirgesinger 5 Seeker of the song 1 - Improved Cohort Seeker of the song 2 Seeker of the song 3 Seeker of the song 4 - Improved Leadership * Seeker of the song 5 Seeker of the song 6 Seeker of the song 7 - ??? Seeker of the song 8 Seeker of the song 9 * Although with losing War Chanter, the usefulness of more low level undead followers is diminished, so I'll probably ditch this one. Can you folks help me make this work, suggestions for feats to fill in the ???, better ways to make this work, or suggestions for a better evil/undead music focused bard PrC? |
| Lord Zeb07-04-05, 12:40 AM | How about something like... Bard 3 / Human Paragon 2 / Dirgesinger 5 / Seeker 10 ? 1 Improved Initiative, Skill Focus (perform) 3 Extra Music (CV) HP Requiem 6 Snowflake Wardance (FrB) 9 Undead Leadership 12 Improved Cohort 15 Necromantic Presence 18 Necromantic Might Cheers, Zeb |
| Dartanel07-04-05, 08:23 AM | Good plan, thanks a lot :) Though I'm not sure the undead followers count as 'under my control' for the purposes of the necromantic feats. So I might swap those out. 1 - Improved Init, SF-Perform (Song) 3 - Extra Music HP - Requiem 6 - Snowflake Wardance 9 - Undead Leadership 12 - Improved Concentration (CV) 15 - Improved Cohort 18 - Landlord (SbG) How's that sound? |
| Kurama Youko07-04-05, 08:37 AM | oh my god your in the artic you have to use my build. Bard 5/Storm Singer5/Seeker of the Song 10 I'll find you and carve you up into snow gnomes if you dont lol. Here is a example of what I was going for with mine. (never got to play test it, let it live through you.) Size & Type: Medium Humanoid (Human) Hit Dice: 15d6 Iniatitive: Speed: Armor Class: Base Attack Bonus/Grapple: Attack: Full Attack: Space / Reach: Special Attack: Spells, Bardic Music (Countersong, Fascinate, Inspire Courage +1, Inspired Competence) 18/day, Stormsong (Gust of Wind, Thuderstrike, Control Winds), Seeker Music (Burning Melody, Song of Unmaking, Dirge of Frozen Loss, Song of Life, Anthem of Thunder and Pain) Special Qualities: Bardic Knowledge +5, Storm Power, Electricity Resistance +5, Rapture of the Song (+2 AC, +2 Saves), Combine Songs, Subvocalize Saves: Fort: +3 Ref: +9 Will: +12 Abilities: Str: 14 Dex: 14 Con: 16 Int: 14 Wis: 12 Cha: 18 Skills: Feats: (B)Artist, 1st-Storm Magic, 3rd-Magical Aptitude, 6th-Snowflake Wardance, 9th-Skill Focus (Perform: Sing), 12th-Arcane Strike, 15th-Practiced Spellcaster (Bard), Environment: Organization: Challenge Rating: Treasure: Alignment: Advancement: Level Adjustment: +0 Spells Per Day: 3 3 3 2 0 Spells Known: 6 4 4 4 2 Spells: 0th-Light, Mage Hand, Detect Magic, Prestidigitation, Message, Read Magic. 1st-Cure Light Wounds, Grease, Inspirational Boost, Expeditious Retreat. 2nd-Fly Swift, Tactical Precision, Heroism, Glitterdust. 3rd-Phantom Steed, Cure Serious Wounds, Confusion, Leomund's Tiny Hut. 4th-Dimensional Door, Cure Critical Wounds. Equipment: This was only a 15th lv character, as you can see i used human, i to wanted a bard that focused more on the singing than the casting spells thing, but finding Bard PrC that allowed access at 5th lv is hard, only the Stormsinger and a few PrC in one of the Dragon Magazines allow for this, and i know most people cant use dragon material, so yeah.. You can totally change almost any feat you see except for the ones needs for the prc, skills are the same way, I chose those feats because they sounded right, Snowflare Wardance, Arcane Strike, and Practiced Spellcaster are totally optional. I dont know if your in faerun but probably not, so you can change Artist to something like Extra Bardic Music. Stormsinger will add 5 levels of bardic spellcasting as well as some nifty class abilities, especially the control winds song, very powerful you cast it at maximum level with this 15th lv build meaning Tornado Force Winds!! I made a correction that would be Tornado Force Winds at 15th lv. |
| Kurama Youko07-04-05, 08:54 AM | How about something like... Bard 3 / Human Paragon 2 / Dirgesinger 5 / Seeker 10 ? 1 Improved Initiative, Skill Focus (perform) 3 Extra Music (CV) HP Requiem 6 Snowflake Wardance (FrB) 9 Undead Leadership 12 Improved Cohort 15 Necromantic Presence 18 Necromantic Might Cheers, Zeb You can only take your first level of Dirgesinger at 7th level thats why he didnt like it in the first place, well not the class but the requirements. |
| Lord Zeb07-04-05, 09:39 AM | You can only take your first level of Dirgesinger at 7th level thats why he didnt like it in the first place, well not the class but the requirements. That's not true, dirgesinger requires 8 ranks in one skill (5th level character) - nothing about waiting til 7th. Requiem works because of the Human Paragon bonus feat. ;) |
| Kurama Youko07-04-05, 10:01 AM | well would you look at that, your right.. guess i got up caught up in the moment.. my build will just have to wait. :weep: |
| catharz07-04-05, 01:32 PM | So woulden't Bard 3/HP 2/Dirgesinger 5/Warchanter 10 work? Or at least Bard 1/Fighter 2/HP 2/DS 5/WC 10. Maybe switch something out for a level of Marshal? |
| Dartanel07-05-05, 09:51 AM | Since I'm doing a song focused build, I want to minimize my loss of Bard Music. And since I'm going to be in a political campaign, skill points are at an extreme premium, so Fighter levels are certainly out. And on later consideration, while the War Chanter abilities are very nice, the War Chanter as a whole alters the focus of my character quite a bit. Although, if my DM disallows Human Paragon (He might reserve it for a particular nation which is highly humanocentric) I thought of the following: Bard 1 - Combat Expertise - Extra Music Bard 2 Bard 3 - Weapon Focus (Blah) Bard 4 Swashbuckler 1 -Bonus: Weapon Finesse War Chanter 1 - Requiem Dirgesinger 1 Dirgesinger 2 Dirgesinger 3 - Undead Leadership Dirgesinger 4 Dirgesinger 5 War Chanter 2 - Imrpoved Concentration War Chanter 3 War Chanter 4 War Chanter 5 - Improved Cohort War Chanter 6 War Chanter 7 War Chanter 8 - Extra Followers War Chanter 9 War Chanter 10 |
