| Derekj12-28-05, 04:46 PM | My Gm is starting a new adventure he is giving us 2 level adjustment only to to go into different kind of creatures or templates we can't start out at a level 2 fighter or something like that. I’m thinking about going as an Aasimar, however that only 1 level adjustment. Does anyone know of a template that is a +1 that does not take away from my wisdom or my charisma? I want to be a cleric with the divine metamagic feats so the charisma is kind of important. O and just to add we use the 32 point system to build char no rolling so were all even really just any bonus I can get from templates would be great. I do have one other Idea that to go human with the Reptilian creature template that would give me all the bonus of going human with a claw attack and +2str,+2con,+2Wis and a +2 natural armor. But I really had my hopes on the Aasimar. Thank to anyone that can help me out |
| MeleeMonster12-28-05, 05:01 PM | No help with the Aasimar but something flavorful like the reptilian that I think is awesome is the Feral template and then Mineral Warrior. I have a Feral Earth Dwarf (Earth Dwarf from Unearthed Arcana) Cleric/Monk Sacred Fist that is real vicious. Not in line with the Aaasimar but definitel fun. |
| AramilWindwalker12-28-05, 06:36 PM | sadly no help with assimar, but the alleged la+2 half-celestial from BoED might work instead, or if cha is what you are after the phrenic template might work as well(la+2). |
| MeleeMonster12-28-05, 07:00 PM | For a ridiculous monk go with a 0 LA Aasimar and take Saint as the 2 Level adjustment and you will be adding your wisdom to AC twice and have a host of other awesome abilities. |

| Llochlyn12-28-05, 07:06 PM | Plus Saint requires you to actually be at least level 6 and having a number of exalted feats |
| borg212-28-05, 09:05 PM | The shadow template is great for thieves/stealth characters. It's in the Manual of Planes (listed as a +1 LA) but was apparently errated (rightly) to be +2 LA. The errated version give you +50% base speed, 100% concealment in shadows (anything less than full daylight), cold resistance, bonus to stealth, dark & low-light vision (great for adding to a human) and a selection of bonus abilities. You get one bonus ability to start with, and then another every 4 HD (so next one is at 5HD). The bonus abilities are pretty amazing though (especially for a low level character) - things like fast healing 2, evasion, DR 5/magic, +2 on all saves etc Combine this with CV ninja, and you'll be near on undetectable at low levels. Synergises well with iaido focus if your dm allows it... The other option is lycanthrope (afflicted). Cruise through crystal keep and check out the template listsings: http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Templates.pdf |

Isn't the Celestial a +4 LA? Can you point to it in the BoED please? I have read the celestial section but got nothing on the half celestial template. Thanks |
| thorian12-29-05, 12:08 AM | Isn't the Celestial a +4 LA? Can you point to it in the BoED please? I have read the celestial section but got nothing on the half celestial template. Thanks BoED, pg. 27. Combine this with the Aasimar version from PGtF and you have a total +2 LA. You can add on the spark template (dragon 306) for even more charisma goodness and no additional LA, but there is a wisdom tradeoff. To sum up: Aasimar (LA +0, +2 WIS, +2 CHA), Half-Celestial (LA +2, +4 STR, +2 DEX, +4 CON, +2 INT, +4 WIS, +4 CHA), Spark Template (LA +2, -2 WIS, +2 CHA) |
| Derekj12-29-05, 02:50 AM | I don't see where you’re getting those numbers for the half-Celestial. Page 27 of the Book of Exalted Deeds. Only tells me how to introduce one into the game. I must be missing something where do you get the exact stats for a Half-Celestial |
| Sir Gummibaerchen12-29-05, 03:24 AM | Half-celestial is a template originally found in the Monster Manual with a level adjustment of +4. HALF-CELESTIAL No matter the form, half-celestials are always comely and delightful to the senses, having golden skin, sparkling eyes, angelic wings, or some other sign of their higher nature. CREATING A HALF-CELESTIAL “Half-celestial” is an inherited template that can be added to any living, corporeal creature with an Intelligence score of 4 or higher and nonevil alignment (referred to hereafter as the base creature). A half-celestial uses all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here. Size and Type: The creature’s type changes to outsider. Do not recalculate the creature’s Hit Dice, base attack bonus, or saves. Size is unchanged. Half-celestials are normally native outsiders. Speed: A half-celestial has feathered wings and can fly at twice the base creature’s base land speed (good maneuverability). If the base creature has a fly speed, use that instead. Armor Class: Natural armor improves by +1 (this stacks with any natural armor bonus the base creature has). Special Attacks: A half-celestial retains all the special attacks of the base creature and also gains the following special abilities. Daylight (Su): Half-celestials can use a daylight effect (as the spell) at will. Smite Evil (Su): Once per day a half-celestial can make a normal melee attack to deal extra damage equal to its HD (maximum of +20) against an evil foe. Spell-Like Abilities: A half-celestial with an Intelligence or Wisdom score of 8 or higher has two or more spell-like abilities, depending on its Hit Dice, as indicated on the table below. The abilities are cumulative. Unless otherwise noted, an ability is usable once per day. Caster level equals the creature’s HD, and the save DC is Charisma-based. HD Abilities 1–2 Protection from evil 3/day, bless 3–4 Aid, detect evil 5–6 Cure serious wounds, neutralize poison 7–8 Holy smite, remove disease 9–10 Dispel evil 11–12 Holy word 13–14 Holy aura 3/day, hallow 15–16 Mass charm monster 17–18 Summon monster IX (celestials only) 19–20 Resurrection Special Qualities: A half-celestial has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus the following special qualities. * Darkvision out to 60 feet. * Immunity to disease. * Resistance to acid 10, cold 10, and electricity 10. * Damage reduction: 5/magic (if HD 11 or less) or 10/magic (if HD 12 or more). * A half-celestial’s natural weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. * Spell resistance equal to creature’s HD + 10 (maximum 35). * +4 racial bonus on Fortitude saves against poison. Abilities: Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +4, Dex +2, Con +4, Int +2, Wis +4, Cha +4. Skills: A half-celestial gains skill points as an outsider and has skill points equal to (8 + Int modifier) x (HD +3). Do not include Hit Dice from class levels in this calculation - the half-celestial gains outsider skill points only for its racial Hit Dice, and gains the normal amount of skill points for its class levels. Treat skills from the base creature’s list as class skills, and other skills as cross-class. Challenge Rating: HD 5 or less, as base creature +1; HD 6 to 10, as base creature +2; HD 11 or more, as base creature +3. Alignment: Always good (any). Level Adjustment: Same as base creature +4. The BoED makes this only +2 for player characters. Which is INSANE btw. |
| Derekj12-29-05, 04:40 PM | Ok I see the stats on the half-Celestial now but i got one more thing. From what I’m reading in the Book of Exalted Deeds I can just change out the level adjustments of a +4 Half-Celestial to a +2 Half-Celestial. Is that right |
| Arkat12-29-05, 10:54 PM | Go towards the bottom of the first page of this thread for the start of a discussion of the BoED +2 LA Half-Celestial: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=558428&page=1&pp=30 I'm still waiting for my response from Customer Service btw. |
