Hey, guys. I am working on a character that I made in our Forgotten Realms campaign. She is an aasimar paladin of Torm, and I am wanting to pick up Purple Dragon Knight and something else, but I am not really sure what. I also know that I am wanting to take the Nimbus of Light and Holy Radiance feats, along with Celestial Bloodline and Eyes of Light. We also use the LA buy off from UA. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to take after PDK? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Ok... Bloodline first...

Don't do it.

The bloodlines in UA are cool and all, but in the terms of the CO boards they are just so horrible mechanics-wise if you don't include the Dragon bloodline's Breath Weapon (and only if Quicken Breath or some similar powerful Metabreath is taken at 18).

Next, Purple Dragon Knight really doesn't have great mechanics. If you want to be inspirational then go down the Bardic route (and pick up Words of Creation while you are at it, since you seem to be exalted already). If you want more leadership-type stuff then take a level or two of Marshal and Druid each and go down the FLyrist path using Master Thrower for Evasion.

Bard 4/Marshal 2/Druid 2/Master Thrower 2/FL 10 = Inspire Courage +3 (+7 buffed) and BAB +17 among other things.

Since your exalted, as xcodes mentioned, i think you should stronlgy consider Fist of Raziel Prestige Class. Also Pious Templar would be nice. Heres my approach. A feat you must have is Divine Might, im sure you have a great charisma so this is a must.

Paladin 4/ Fighter 4/ Pious Templar 2/ Fist of Raciel 10 or
PAladin 4/ Fighter 2/ Psychic Warrior 2/ Pious Templar 2/ Fist of Raziel

But really. Give us some more information, what are your scores, your gear and your current feats?

Both of those builds waste FoR casting progression. Sticking in a level of Divine Crusader (especially since it's Pre-Reqs are eclipsed by Pious Templar) does nothing but good things for a build. +1 BAB or a powerful (if narrow) list of spells to cast...?

The norm suggestion is Paladin 5/Pious Templar 4/Divine Crusader 1/FoR 10 a close second build is Paladin 4/Fighter 1/Pious Templar 4/Divine Crusader 1/FoR 10 which exchanges 1 smite per day and 1 smite damage for +2 fort and a fighter feat. Both of these builds are actually somewhat light in feat requirements (Power Attack, Weapon Focus, True Believer, and Servant of the Heavens, 3 of which you will actually use quite often) and actually grant two more.

The biggest problems with Purple Dragon Knight is 1) it doesn't do anything unique, only Oath of Wrath is truly unique to the Purple Dragon Knight and it's a pretty weak once-per-day effect, 2) it's straight numbers are lackluster; 2 skill points, d10 HD, Full BAB, One Good Save (Fort) are duplicated by countless other PrC's with better abilities, and 3) it has Negotiator as a pre-requisite. The third reason is the big one. Servant of the Heavens will at least be used, but since when is the party tank a semi-decent option for party face? Even charisma gishes generally defer the Diplomacy and Bluffing to the party skillmonkey.

Thats what I said... I didn't say Divine Champion...

Who in their right mind would put Divine Champion into a build?

:shifty:

Bard 4/Marshal 2/Druid 2/Master Thrower 2/FL 10 = Inspire Courage +3 (+7 buffed) and BAB +17 among other things.I was just curious about the bloodline thing. I thought that the bloodline thing and Eyes of Light were pretty cool abilities from Races of Faerun. Also, the Nimbus of Light and Holy Radience I thought really stuck well with the whole "celestial righteous warrior from the heavens trying to bring light into the world." Are the feats just a waste of time? I have only made one previous character a paladin, and he worked out great thanks to your build, X-Codes. I was wanting to do something a bit different this time around, so I am not wanting a female duplicate of my other paladin.

Here is the other character that you helped me with... http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=506287

Like I said, he was AWESOME! Especially the sainthood. :)

Oh, and does Champions of Valor have anything that I might want to use? I can't get that book as of yet, but it is always good to cover all the bases...
