Bad idea. The Mystic Theurge's biggest weaknesses are its slowed caster progression and its dependency on multiple casting scores. Having a race with a level adjustment and a pair of casters that don't qualify for Theurge until 4th level really slows things down. As is, your build is Aasimir 1/Sorcerer 4/Mystic 4, with MyT not even available until next level. You only get second level spells, when a straight Wiz or Cleric will be casting 5th level spells.

First off, dump Aasimar. Remember thine first commandmant: Thou shalt not give up caster levels.

Next, pick a better combo of classes. Wizard/Archivist is good, or you could try a Cerebramancer if you still want some spontaneous casting.

I see your point esp about race. BUT by being Aasimar I get +2 in both prime attributes.
Yea I'm only getting 2nd level spells, but I cast on the fly.
What about the feat Practected Spellcaster? or Spellcasting Prodigy of help off set prob with level caster?

If you're willing to give up the Outsider type, the Lesser planetouched varient from the back of the Players Guide to Faerun will allow you to keep your +2 Cha and +2 Wis without the LA.

Unfortunatly, everything else SpiritGlyph said remains the same. You're dealing with two delayed progression classes, and delaying them further is typically a bad idea.

Plus, even with the racial mods, you're still going to need two stats in the high teens to low twenties by the middle of your career if you want your spells to not be resisted by everyone and their grandmother. You'd be much better off rearranging your stats for a better spread by focusing on one casting stat.

I'm a big fan of Wizard/Psion/Cerebremancer (especially with early entry thanks to Precocious Apprentice (remember, powers are not spells) and combined with the Mind Mage from Dragon Mag), using your Psion side to blast and cast spontaniously, while your wizard half handles your day to day casting needs. A human Wizard 1/Psion 3/Cerebremancer 5 would be solid. 3rd level spells/4th level powers (and you can take Practiced Spellcaster to shore up your Wiz CL) all based off your Int.

If you're still focused on the Sor/Mys/MTh, swing for a Lesser Aasimar, and expect to be behind the curve for your entire career.

Let's not be too negative guys. The build does have merits, we just have to accept that it will never be casting the earth-shattering spells of its CR. We just have to accept that like most spontanious spellcasting builds this isn't as easy to play with as a prepared caster version.
I do agree with them that the +1 LA Aasimar will make this alot more of a challenge though, see what you can do to get rid of that, even the UA rule for buying off level adjuster.

The important thing is to realize the character's weakness: He doesn't know high level spells.
And to realize his strengths: He has a ton of spell-slots he can spontanious spellcast with.

A nice alternative to Mystic is Shugenja, which synergizes very well with Sorcerer since they're both charisma based, but Mystic isn't a bad class. I recommend the Sun domain for turn undead. Plus it fits the Aasimar's natural talents to create daylight. From there you can get Divine Metamagic.

Also, see if you can get the Accelerated Metamagic feat from Races of the Dragon. The only problem with this is: Mystic is from Krynn and dragons from Krynn can't breed outside their species. Still, it seems entirely possible you're playing a Mystic outside of Krynn so I make that a recommended feat.

If you are playing in Krynn though, and can't get around this problem, and are happy eating those Level Adjusters . . . might as well just play a Gold Draconian Mystic. You get sorcerer spellcasting for free so you can walk right into Mystic Theurge. This is hardly optimized but it's probably fun!
