First of all, I salute you, fellow minmaxers, as this is my first post
I beg forgiveness for my sometimes random english

Well, I have today discovered aberrant feats and must say I fell in love immediatly... Being weird is so nice...

I've been looking to make an original and if possible exalted (Vow of Poverty) character for an upcoming Gestalt Eberron campaign (yeah, I know, they don't blend well but it's not the subject)

I was allowed to use all and every feat/class etc etc i get to find in books along with 2 Flaws... Well, i guess DM wants us to munchkinize all we can given that... So i will .. Ending with a healthful 35 feats selection, here comes the Celestial Tentacle Monk O_o

I was also allowed to use Warrior from UA instead of Fighter for "flavor" feats, provided I'd take a skill selection close from core fighter

Lawful good (eeew) Human
Monk 20/Warrior (generic class from UA)20
I also use my 2 flaws to get Sacred Vow and Vow of poverty, wich will give me so many feats it makes me cry

Feats :
Lv 1 : Aberration Blood (LoM)
Human : Subduing Strike (BoED)
Flaw 1 : Sacred Vow (BoED)
Flaw 2 : Vow of Poverty (BoED)
Warrior : Improved Toughness (CW)
Exalted : Touch of Golden Ice (BoED)
Monk : Stunning Fist
Lv 2 : Warrior : Durable Form (LoM)
Exalted : Vow of Non Violence (BoED)
Monk : Combat Reflexes
Lv 3 : Bestial Hide (LoM)
Lv 4 : Warrior : Deepspawn (LoM)
Exalted : Vow of Peace (BoED)
Lv 6 : Weapon Finesse (Unarmed strike)
Exalted : Sanctify Natural Attack (BoED)
Warrior : Inhuman Reach (LoM)
Monk : Improved Trip
Lv 8 : Warrior : StarSpawn (LoM)
Exalted : Holy Subdual (BoED)
Lv 9 : Weapon Finesse (Tentacles... yuk being monk is about mastering your body right ?)
Lv 10 : Exalted : Sanctify Ki Strike (BoED)
Warrior : Inhuman Vision (and that would be the last aberrant feat)
Lv 12 : Exalted : Holy Ki Strike (Boed)
Warrior : Fist of the Heaven (BoED)
Being level 12 ?????????
I'll get the aberrant feat for fast swimming if DM hints about the many aberrations lurking the seas to my character

I can't really decide on my feat selection after that, there are lot of nice unarmed fighting feats that would be perfect, but my natural weapon might be enhanced too
Exalted Feat selection gets narrow too...

A prestige class with monk fighting progression would be nice...

Pros of this build are
High hit points at low levels thanks to feat selection
Many Attacks with those two tentacles (7 with a BAB 15 Flurry of blows)
Reach + Combat reflexes = I'm a living spiked chain
Ridiculous AC, around 45-50 by level 20 ... and probably 30 or so around level 5-6

Con of this build is mainly "and how do you explain you are a lawful good guy with twisted tentacles ?"

Well... I'd say Surume Ika, Tenshokkakudo Sohei (... search a japanese dictionnary if you feel like it... tentacles and slimy critters of the sea hidden there)... I'd say he didn't took the decision to transform gradually into ... This weird stuff... And thus, is on a spiritual quest to understand, and seeks some kind of purification for what he is in performing good deeds... whatever...

Question :
What happens to you flurry of blows when you gestalt with a +1 to +20 BAB class ? I really can't figure how to deal with it

Thanks a lot

first off lemme say that's a pretty original build, i can't really say that much else to improve it (maybe fit in improved natural attack somewhere in there?)

though i'm no expert in gestalts i'm going to have to say that a flurry w/ a +20 BAB would be +20/+20/+20/+15/+10/+5. as i understand with a gestalt game you take the best of both worlds, so you'd take the full BAB, but that doesn't improve teh actual flurry ability it just tacks on an extra attack.

Looking at how the flurry of blow follows the BAB progression, I think i will be able to write up this new Uber Flurry Attack Bonus progression thanks to you

I'm trying to find feats that can add attacks to those two lovely tentacles at the moment

EDIT : Just remembered to use those Sneak attack feats from UA along with warrior... If DM allows ;)

I'm finally done

Well, no improved natural weapon... going from 1d4+7 or 1d6+7 isn't wort a feat for me in this build :) I'll keep tentacles for tactical (trip, disarm) attacks... The damage would come from sneak attacks for them

Feat Selection :
Just love first level

Lv 1 : Level : Aberration Blood
Human : Dodge
Flaw 1 : Sacred Vow
Flaw 2 : Vow of Poverty
Exalted: Subduing Strike
Warrior: Durable Form
Monk : Stunning Fists
Lv 2 : Warrior : Deepspawn
Exalted : Vow of Peace
Monk : Combat Reflexes
Lv 3 : Level : Bestial Hide
Lv 4 : Warrior : Inhuman Reach
Exalted : Vow of NonViolence
Lv 6 : Level : Weapon Finesse (Unarmed Strike)
Warrior : Starspawn
Exalted : Holy Subdual
Monk : Improved Trip
Lv 8 : Warrior : Sneak Attack (+2d6)
Exalted : Sanctify Natural Attack
Lv 9 : Level : Defensive throw
Lv10 : Warrior : Inhuman Vision
Exalted : Sanctify Ki Strike
Lv12 : Level : Weapon Finesse (Tentacles [pure beauty to have this actually written on a character sheet])
Warrior : Waterspawn
Exalted : Holy Ki Strike
Lv14 : Warrior : Power Attack
Exalted : Fist of the Heavens
Lv15 : Level : Roundabout Kick
Lv16 : Warrior :Improved Critical (Unarmed Strike) - just to enhance roundabout kick actually
Exalted : Sacred Strike (all good... remaining Exalted feats are really for flavor... if not for filling holes)
Lv18 : Level : Combat Expertise (huge AC gets huger)
Warrior : Improved Sneak Attack (+5d6)
Exalted : Nimbus of Light (i told you...)
Lv20 : Warrior : Greater Sneak Attack (+9d6)
Exalted : Holy Radiance

Given a 14 base score for Dexterity and Wisdom, and thanks to Vow of poverty, he'll end up with a 51 AC (+ dodge and expertise or fighting defensively)... Defensive Throw appears really powerful here and those 8 attacks at BAB +20/+20/+20/+15/+15/+15/+10/+5 (italics = tentacles) are multiplied with lucky roundabout kick too

We assume a +32 for a direct attack with no special advantage (24 dex +7, Exalted Ki Strike +5... erm hey, buff spells from fellow casters will be loved) wich can easily overcome the level 20 character from DMG with a roll of 2, wich lets us assume (I'm no ennemy AC specialist) we can hit lots of things at least once or twice a round

Thus enabling us to trip them and hit them easier and harder
With basic Constitution 14 given +2 level 19 with VoP
Hit points are 20d10 + 60 (constitution) + 16 (durable form)... Nice but I had to dump the +1 HP per HD feat... not a big loss overall

Incredible mobility too, with a base 90 feet landspeed, 180 hasted at level 20. Monstrous jump check (+ wings from StarsSpawn), swimming, top speed tumbling...

Too bad Sneak Attacks don't improve faster, but as he is not supposed to be alone, it'll be allright i think

Oh, and also Nimbus of Light has one advantage that would be loved sooner... +2 diplomacy with good creatures... Well Gatekeeper Druids are good, and He is an Aberration (or almost) so well... Diplomacy ranks + Stealthiness should do !

(Would he be a Daelkyr's broken toy ? Well broken indeed :P )

You're backwards with Vow of Nonviolence and Peace... NV comes first.

You only need Weapon Finesse once: In 3.5 it (logically enough) applies to any applicable weapon.

Also, you could slip in some levels of the other generic classes for even more feats, but remember that the generic classes aren't supposed to be used with the standard ones.

quoting myself in the first post : I was also allowed to use Warrior from UA instead of Fighter for "flavor" feats, provided I'd take a skill selection close from core fighter

The pure "warrior class" brings more BBA, and was already enough abuse :)

That said, true for finesse... and I KNEW IT when making this... my mind was far away I guess... Well, It's been too long since I last looked at it, so I don't know what to use to replace them

Does the aberrant blood feat allow you to take the rapid strike and improved rapid strike feats, if so I would suggest you take them for more natural weapon attacks.

I can understand monk 20 up one side of the build, but be a changling and you want to take the following on the other side:

Warrior 4 / Warshaper 2 / Shou Disciple 3 / Swashbucker 3 / Warshaper 2 / Shou Disciple 2 / Warrior 2 / Expert 2

Warshaper will let you grow a bunch of natural attacks and shou disciple will let you flurry with them, as well as allow you to flurry effectively earlier and increase your effective monk level faster.

If you want more cheese you can take leadership and get a reformed fiend of possession as your cohort... you can give +4 to all stats and up to an effective +6 worth of weapon enhancements... if you play it right you can even get another full round worth of actions at later levels, but that might be too much cheese.

Alas, Touch of Golden Ice will force you to break your vow of peace, so you can't use that.

Also remember, your unarmed strike is enhanced by santify martial weapon as well as santify natural weapon on top of sanctify ki strike, so take all of those feats with your bonus exaulted feats.

Your feats should look like the following: (Note that feats marked with a * are from a class while feats marked with a ^ are from Vow of Poverty)

Flaws: Abbarent Blood (Flexible Limbs), Sacred Vow

1. Vow of Poverty, Inhuman Reach*, Stunning Fist*, Improved Unarmed Strike*
2. Starspawn*, Nymph's Kiss^, Combat Reflexes*
3. Weapon Focus (Unarmed Strike), Deepspawn*
4. Beastal Hide*, Insightful Strike^
6. Dodge, Improved Disarm*, Sanctify Martial Strike^
8. Improved Initiative*, Sanctify Natural Attack^
9. Carmendine Monk
10. Weapon Finesse*, Sanctify Ki Strike^
12. Multiattack, Vow of Nonviolance^
14. Vow of Peace^
15. Mageslayer
16. Improved Trip*, Holy Ki Strike^
18. Durable Form, Warped Mind*, Fist of the Heavens^
19. Inhuman Vision*
20. Waterspawn*, Nimbus of Light^

Take your bonus stats from VoP in this order: Dex/Int/Con/Str

You can replace a few abbarent feats with the sneak attack feats if you so choose.

Your final AC will be about 50 or so, which isn't at all too shaby.

So the books needed for this UA and Eberron CS?

Also, what bonuses does taking Vow of Nonviolence and Vow of Peace give you that are worth not being able to kill things?

Would Abberant Blood still work if you were to be an Elan? As an abberation you would then qualify for Rapidstrike and Improved Rapidstrike.

abarrent feats have the prerequisit of being a humanoid.

Because obviously, aberrations don't have aberration blood. :ahem:

Could a monstrous humanoid qualify for Aberrant Blood? Getting rapidstrike and improved rapidstrike would really increase this guys power.

Well I used the vow for the increased AC and the augmented saves VS the stunning fist IIRC...

Well, and it works RP wise... Kicking your ass off with those free subduals, then letting you think of what you've done, you evil bastard... that was the idea

Your build soulgamit is interesting indeed.
Being a changeling is a great idea for the increased twistedness... but I didn't originally use it because the character undergoes an unwilling transformation.
You actually WANT the sneak attack feats, because your damage... well... Sucks

For a level 20 optimized build, just kick out the 3 last aberrant feats to take the SA feats
SoulGamit

Ya, I choose abarrent feats because I didn't know if your DM would let you get the sneak attack ones, judging from your origonal post it seemed like you could only get abarrent or theme feats from warrior.

As for being a changling, theres no reason that should interfere with your concept. In fact, a wizard could deside to screw with shapechanger DNA since it's more mallable. While a changling does change appearence, the abbarrent feats take that to an extreme. The warshaper part is also a natural extension of the abbarrent feats.

Also, you can do subduel damage to creatures if you have Vow of Peace.

also, why take weapon finesse when you can take intuitive attack as an exalted feat and focus on wisom instead of dex?
SoulGamit

camerdine monk switches monk ac to int instead of wis. Swashbuckler adds int to damage. Swashbuckler also gives weapon finesse for free.
