Abjurant Champion [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-05-06, 09:00 AM Are there any fighter-mage type Abjurant Champion optimized builds out there?

Would it be worth it for combat focused builds to take 2 Arcane/5 Abjurant Champion to snag 4th level spells at a high caster level?

12-05-06, 09:30 AM I'm not much of an optimizer, but I personally really like fight1/wiz4/fight1/spellsword1/abjchamp5/ek8. Gets you 9ths at 20 and you can still be a good melee combatant. Only metamagic feats I take are quicken spell & extend spell for buffing, the rest combat-related ones, arcane strike in particular is nice, and power attack of course.

12-05-06, 11:45 AM Duskblade 3 / Paladin 4 / Suel Arcanamach 4 / Abjurant Champion 5 / Pious Templar 4

BAB +19 (so caster level 19), 6th level spells, with automatic Extend affect on self-buffs (including 2 round duration Wraithstrikes) and +6 on DC to dispel your spells. Also has a lot of nice Charisma synergy - smiting, turning for divine feats, divine grace, spellcasting.

And you can always swap out Pious Templar 4 if the crappy feat pre-reqs are too much to swallow. There would certainly be nothing wrong with an extra 4 levels of Duskblade, but I'm sure there's something better out there.

Pal 2 / Sorc 4 / SpellSword 1 / Abjurant Champion 5 / Eldritch Knight *

This will net you 17 BAB, 17 Caster (8th spells), Charisma to saves (+11 or 12 if done right), 10% Arcane SpellFailure negation.

Now, add 1 level of monk in there some place (Or 2 if you want Evasion) and the Ascetic Mage feat from Complete Adventurer and you have Charisma to AC instead of Wisdom.

My build got me 50 AC naked, 33F, 25R, 41W to my saves, 16 BAB, 7th spells, and I went Leap Attack route, which meant around 78 damage base per charge.

The main wizard in the group officially hates Gishes and me now. ;)
