I've always loved Abjuration both from a flavor standpoint, but also from a player's standpoint. Trouble is I can't decide the best path, or which prestige class is "better" then another. So I throw myself to the CO board for help. I like all of the below classes a lot, I just don't know how to best blend them all. Master Specialist (Abjuration) Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil Abjurant Champion Some of the ideas I've tossed around: Paladin 2/Wizard 3/Master Specialist 10/ Abjurant Champion 5/ Wizard 3/Master Specialist 6/ Initiate Sevenfold Veil 7/Master Specialist 4+ Paladin 2/Wizard 6/Abjurant Champion 5/ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 7/ Paladin 2/Sorcerer 6/ Abjurant Champion 5/ Eldritch Knight 7? Counterspelling sounds like it might be fun, but I've never tried to base a build around it. Unless I want to sack a feat for militia, I need to take a dip in another class to be able to use a martial weapon. I want to stay human, so that voids taking a race with racial weapons. As to why Paladin, I know it brings MAD a bit closer, but at least I get the Paladin 2 goodies I'd like to stay with wizard as the base class, but Paladin and Sorcerer do mesh better. So what does the board suggest as the best Abjuration build? |

You do lose the ability to slap AMF's from a distance, which does suck. Still, I think it's a solid build, you will completely shut down casters, you really don't have to build for counterspell, I don't think, as you will have heightened dispels, there are some good dispels found in Complete Mage, and if you're fighting a buffed-to-the-gills BBEG, Kaleidoscope Doom, done. Rainbow of DOOOOOOOM. I'm making a similar wizard for an existing campaign (funny that), and what I'm thinking is this; Human Wizard 3 / Master Abjurer 6 / IotSV 7 / Master Abjurer 4 Banned Schools: Evocation, Enchantment H: Improved Initiative Flaw: Non-combatant Feat: Spell Focus (Abjuration) 1: Extend Spell 3: Energy Abjuration 6: Persistent Spell 9: Arcane Mastery 12: Metamagic School Focus (Abjuration) 15: Not sure yet, Metamagic Spell Trigger, maybe 18: Not sure yet I'm not sold on Improved Initiative - with reactive warding, I don't know that I'll need it. |
