| Relentless12-08-06, 03:39 PM | Background: Looking for a Playable character that is powerful but not campaign breaking. was thinking of some sort of the following mixed into a stew. Melee Type (Fighter, etc) Wizard (prefer this to a Sorceror build) Abjurant Champion Initiate of the Seven-Fold Veil -- Or -- anything that raises caster level at a decent rate and still has some decent abilities. Trouble is. I can't seem to figure out how to make it all worthwhile. Fighter2/Wizard4/Spellsword1/Abjurant-Champion5/InitiateVeil7/xxx1 Or a variant with 1 level of Bladedancer thrown in after the 5 Champion levels Rules I have to follow: most 3.5 books except the truly esoteric (BoVD, etc). I get to start at level 12. Odds are good I won't hit past 15 (campaigns usually end and we start over). I COULD be a tiefling or aasimar with no LA I would like to focus on spellcasting as a primary (minimum of level 9 spells by 20) Some sort of 'Flava' is cool. As I actually need to roleplay this character in a sensible, the boys down the street type of campaign. I get 88,000 GP to buy equipment from DMG, or using the simple Magic Item creation rules from the DMG. |

I'm playing a character who's probably moving towards a war weaver/abjurant champion combination at the moment myself, and I'm looking forward to seeing the two work together. Then again I'm trying to keep some gishiness while being a more low-key buff type to help out a couple of new players in the group. (And if a wizard, abrupt jaunt is certainly ftw, if you can handle the conjuration specialty.) |
| Timespike12-08-06, 06:39 PM | The components you should be looking at are: Base Classes: Wizard (possibly with elven substitution level 1 or specializing as an abjurer), Fighter, and Warblade Prestige Classes: War Weaver, Abjurant Champion, Spellsword, Eldritch Knight, Master Specialist Other: Elven paragon class. some possible builds: Military Support Wizard: Race: Elf Wizard 4/Elf Paragon 3/War Weaver 5/Dragonslayer 1/Wayfarer Guide 3/Abjurant Champion 4 BAB is 12, and you lose 3 caster levels, but you have an aura of courage, and some very nice buff- and teleport- boosting abilities. These are all very nice for a military arcanist indeed. Dwarven Tunnel Guardian wizard: Fighter 1/Wizard 4/Runesmith 2/Eldritch Knight 1/Abjurant Champion 5/Eldritch Knight 7 BAB of 17, Caster level of 18. Can cast in dwarven mountain plate if you want, with no spell failure chance. Human Abjurer Wizard 2/Human Paragon 3/Master Specialist (Abjurer) 4/Abjurant Champion 4/IotSV 7 BAB is 12, but caster level is 19. You are also "mister protect" A strange one: Human Wizard 2/Human Paragon 3/Mage of the Arcane Order 10/Abjurant Champion 5 BAB is 13, caster level is 19. You're not all that much of a warrior, but you're okay. You're extremely versatile, though. If you want the party to really love you, swap in war weaver for abjurant champion. War weaver + spell pool = I can do whatever is necessary in a pinch, and so can you. And then there's always warblade 1/wizard 2/human or elf paragon 3/Jade Phoenix Mage X/Abjurant Champion Y |
