| Mommy was an Orc05-30-05, 06:04 PM | While I don't believe Divine Minion is legal(due to lacking the specific description in Wild Shape Class Feature in Complete Adventurer), that's not true for Abolisher, a relatively easy to get into prestige class by 7th level from Lords of Madness. Anyone else figure out any exploits for Abolisher? I'd go MoMF 10 with it + Nature's Warrior 3, but that still only means a 14th level Wild Shaper at 20th level...(if MoMF is ruled to provide levels) |
| Khazra Reborn05-30-05, 06:14 PM | you can boost up to +8 wildshape levels with an amulet of wilshape (Magic of Faereun) & bearskin cloak (dragon). Thats a total of 21 wildshape HD available to you...woot! What the advantage over druid? better BaB or HD or something like that? |
| Mommy was an Orc05-30-05, 08:02 PM | The advantage over Druid is that you only need one level of Ranger(or Druid) + 1 level of Abolisher to get Wild Shape Class Feature. So for a combat build, you could go Ranger 1/FullBAB +5/Abolisher 1/Nature's Warrior 5/Warshaper 4 + 4 levels of something else... you can boost up to +8 wildshape levels with an amulet of wilshape (Magic of Faereun) & bearskin cloak (dragon). | Khazra Reborn05-30-05, 08:05 PM | cool, that actually makes natures warrior worthwhile if you have no caster level to use! |
| Mommy was an Orc05-30-05, 08:46 PM | You also get Favored Enemy +2 Aberrations, too - d8hp, 4 skill points. 4 levels of it isn't that bad either as you'll get Favored Enemy +4 and bonus to saves against Aberrations. Very fast way to get Fast Healing from Nature's Warrior by 8th level. I'm just trying to figure out how to use it to get Blighter with 9th level spells and Nature's Warrior in the same build. cool, that actually makes natures warrior worthwhile if you have no caster level to use! |
| Mommy was an Orc05-31-05, 09:05 AM | So here's a potential build: Dwarf Ranger 3/Fighter 2/Deepwarden 2/Abolisher 1/Nature's Warrior 5/MoMF 7 Required Feats: Endurance, Track, Alertness Required Skills: Knowledge(Nature) 9 Knowledge(Dungeoneering) 5 Knowledge(Planes) 2(2 pts CC) Survival 8 Climb 5 Heal 5(1 pt CC) Jump 5 Appraise 2(2 pts CC) Craft(Stoneworking) 5 So take a look at what this guy does: +17 BAB and the penalty to BAB is relatively late in the build - can easily be the primary Tank build from 1-20. Can Wildshape using MoMF 9/day as if a 13th level Druid When Wildshaped, gets Fast Healing 1, +5 Natural Armor and DR 3/- Casts spells as a 2nd level Druid Can wear metal armor without penalty Gains Con to AC - when tacked onto the +5 Natural Armor and Wildshaped into a high Con form... |
| ccubed05-31-05, 05:30 PM | So here's a potential build: Dwarf Ranger 3/Fighter 2/Deepwarden 2/Abolisher 1/Nature's Warrior 5/MoMF 7 ... snipped for space... Gains Con to AC - when tacked onto the +5 Natural Armor and Wildshaped into a high Con form... Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Are there any other builds combining shapechanging (of any form) and Deepwarden's Con to AC ability? Since so many optimal shapes to take have extremely high Con scores, this could be a very powerful combination. (Too bad my new gaming group doesn't use "Races of Stone.") |
| lokkesmadr05-31-05, 06:37 PM | The archetypical mozzarella with the deepwarden is to take the form of a Shambling Mound with access to its special qualities and then spend a while being toasted with electricity. The easiest method is probably Druid 5/Master of Many Forms 7/Deepwarden 2 and the result is that your Con goes up by 1d4 points per instance of lightning damage. It's temporary boosts to the base stat, too, so it doesn't have any problem with bonus types stacking or overlapping. After an hour of stabbing yourself in the face with a tiny +1 shocking dagger you've got an average of three thousand extra constitution and you've taken one thousand, two hundred damage. Of course, since you're a constitution based character you've probably got at least DR 1, so you've actually taken zero damage. For even more abuse it's usually advised that you be a Mineral Warrior, for the smitey goodness. Or, better still, get that nifty hammer from Rokugan that uses Con for bonus to hit and to damage. |
