Absolute Best Races for Sorcerer [Archive] - Wizards Community

And finally whats the absolute epitome of sorcerer? No restrictions on LA just the very best race for being a sorcerer... Yeah I know Dragons, but anything else?

Seriously, take a look at it.

+2 Dex. Gives you +1 to your AC and to your ranged touch attacks. Also helps with melee touch attacks if you take Weapon Finesse

-2 Strength. Right, and what sorcerer is going to need this anyways?

Size: Small. Gives you a +1 to your AC and to hit with all attacks. Not too shabby, eh? Sure, your melee attacks go down a die catagory, but since when do sorcerers use melee attacks? It doesn't change your magic damage at all.

But otherwise Strongheart halfling.

You are small but get an extra feat like an human! YEAH!

07-31-06, 08:18 PM Are you forgetting Aasimar for LA +1. Bonus to Cha and Wis, Outsider type gives the ability to abuse alter self and polymorph, besides the plus of weapon proficiency. And some other benefits (light resistances, darkvion, feats,etc.).

07-31-06, 09:35 PM Don't forget the sylph in monster manual II. It has 4HD and was given an adjustment of +5 in the 3.5 update. It's sorc caster level is it's racial HD+4, so you only loose one level. In exchange you are small, can fly, an outsider, and +6 to Cha (all I can think of off the top of my head).

My personal favorite because it is just odd is the sharn. It has 4HD with an adjustment of +5. It starts with 7 sorc levels and 5 cleric levels. It gets +8 or +10 to each stat, has perfect flight, can cast two spells at once, have regeneration, and can open portals up to 100 feet away to do touch attacks through. You can also advance him up to 12HD getting an additional caster level with each HD.

The kobald rituals in the web enchancement make them just wrong. At level 6 they get a free +1 sorc progression if they complete a simple ritual. So go kobald White Dragonspawn with the dragonwrought feat at level 1. Make yourself venerable to get the +3 to all mental stats, while the dragonwrough feat prevents loss to you physical scores.

I generally dont care how broken things get if you add Eberron Setting things.

For this ritual you have to:
Complete the first ritual (-1 HP, 100gp)
Get the Feat
Complete the ritual (-3 HP, 1000gp)

So i see nothing wrong with giving an EXTREMELY weak race an edge.

A dwarf is, by far, more broken. Especially if you play with the racial paragon classes.

08-01-06, 04:45 AM I would always go for Mage of the arcane order with any sorcerer. The Spell Pool is just too sweet. You can quit after getting the bonus feat and having Spell Pool II anyway. And then be ... uh ... Heartwarder or so :), if you dont want to be too powerful. If you want raw power:

Be sure to be able to take the planar sorcerer substitution. Also take the draconic substitution. Then go for Mage of the Arcane Order. Afterwards be an Initiate of the Sevenfolded Veil.

4 HP, 1,100 GP, and 2 feats is not too much for getting +1 sorceror casting without giving up any levels.

+0 LA aasimars, however, make great gishes, since they qualify for eldritch knight without any levels in fighter.

Look into the Draconomicon. The Shadow Dragon is perfect for shaping in.

You get landspeed 60, flyspeed 100 (average), become tiny and get 7 NA.
