What is the absolute most powerful character you can create at level 10? I am looking for raw fighting prowess. The only character we really have at the moment is a Cleric/fighter and we will probably have a monk as well. I am looking for a character to destroy all characters! I MUST BE THE POWERFUL ONE!

Yeah. Anything goes here guys. We use point buy 32, start with 49k to spend on equipment (only equipment mentioned in the DMG or PHB is aplicable) any race in the MM or PHB is fine, I just want power output.

No psionics. All you have to work with is DMG, PHB, and MM.

Go to work guys.

you want specifically a fighter type or just something that kills all monsters (including spellcasters)?

ANY character. Casters, archers, fighters, theives, priests, anything!

As long as its in the DMG, PHB, or MM its good for me.

Can we use custom items?

What, the Satyr Bard didn't work out for you? ;)

Seriously, you're probably not going to get many replies if you don't at least give some idea of what kind of character you want to play.

The Satyr I am going to play. This is actually more a futile inquery. I want to see what the general thought is on the most powerful character could possibly be in my little party.

To speed this along, lets say I want to play a high damage yielding caster. No idea on race. No custom items, only items from the core books. No custom spells, only spells from PHB and DMG. 49k to spend. Pt. Buy 32.

Generally I want to be an offensive caster that can take on more than one enemy at a time. Would like a character viable in many combat situations, meaning able to take on a single enemy at a time or even 20-30 enemies at a time.

As this is all theoretical, let your imaginations fill in the blanks.

i would go with an expert, i think at 10th level there is no option for a good multi-arm form for polymorph.
if there is i would take this.
together with greater skillfocus (basketweaving) this would be the most powerful basketweaver ever.

but seriously, i would consider to start on a higher level, the real great things like octopus-form etc. are available there.

I am looking for a character applicable to the current party we are creating, and this party is starting at level 10. This is not going to be an ungodly character but I am trying to use this character as a joke (my DM hates power... why you think I am using a Satyr? Good way to get on a DM's good side.) Come on, be serious about it!

I know it may seem rude, but I'll just give you this: READ THE FAQ!!!

Bah, this is really going nowhere. Come on, someone has to have a slight inkling to see the absolute most power they can crank out of a level 10 character? I gave mild specifics if needed (although if you want to make a fighter because its more powerful and post it here PLEASE do so. Any character is good) and now I will make a reward!

Person who posts first gets a "Cookie of uberleetness +5" Come on! Someone has to have a little imagination! A little ingenuity? Someone might want to help the lazy and uneducated make a character ungodly at the level of 10! COME ON GUYS! Pweez?

whats so hard on figuring it ou yourself?

only you know what the most powerful means for you. there are a whole bunch of possibilities at lvl 10

with an awful lot of builds floating around here: just pick one.

if you think about brute strength look at the 3.5-barbarian thread, if your opinion about power is more into stealth the rogue-thread may fit your needs and if you want a caster: there are really lots of them.

with a few hundred peope here we have a minimum of opinions this high, eventually even more because some are undecided.

asking for maximum absolutely most unbelievable power is just, ahm, not smart because it is not existing in a game that favors specialization.

Suppose your right, but as I said this is an oppinion thread. I am looking for personal opinions on powerful characters. Elfboi91 may say that his elven sorcerer is the most powerful hes found, while necrognomicon666 might say that his gnome fighter is the strongest.

I never really expected to find an absolute in any respect. I am just trying to create a fun thread to share some ideas while using it on the side as a minijoke to my DM.

I am not making a serious inquery here, I just want your opinions, and some specifics and explinations. Humor me?

Have you checked the build faq? Without any other information, I'd say you can't go wrong with Cleric10.

Some things to note with level 10:

Max BAB = +10/+5

So only two iterative attacks per round (an average BAB will get that @ 10th level).

Maximum of 5th level spells (the Wizards advantage over the Sorcerer disappears at even levels).

Unless you flurry with a monk...then you'd get three attacks at 10th level (you get your first extra attack at level six and your second extra at level 11).

There are several reasons no one will answer you:

1) There is no meaningful answer.

(If you ask a bunch of baseball fans which team is the "coolest" there is no meaningful answer. They could waste their time listing each of the teams one after another but why bother?)

2) There are tons of resources at your fingertips for finding powerful builds. Use the search function, read the FAQ, open a random thread. Why should we bother cutting and pasting information from elsewhere? I appreciate your desire to start a "fun" thread but frankly nobody else would enjoy doing "cut and paste" work for you. That's just not entertaining.

3) Apples and oranges. No one is interested in fighting about whether toothpaste or the number seven is "wackier." Its not a meaningful debate. Neither is the debate over whether a Ur-Priest Necromancer is "better" than an Incantantrix-Archmage. They both do different things so there is no real way to compare them.

MAYBE you might get a reply if you asked what build is best able to kill certain types of enemies.

I.e. I want to kill tons of humanoids (i.e. mobs and mobs of orcs or ogres).
or I want to kill tons of big, powerful, individual monsters (i.e. one great wyrm, one beholder, etc.)

There are certain builds that specialize in 'mob-killing' and 'individual-killing' and we could direct you to them.

Funny Slaughter's basketweaving response is actually really helpful in answering your inital question if you think about it.

You said (roughly): What has the most power. But you didn't specify what KIND of power. (i.e. mob-killing, individual killing, basket weaving.)

Funny pointed out your failure to specify the type of power by picking a silly power---basketweaving and then explained how you could have maximal basketweaving power.

The moral is--you must ask more specific questions if you want anyone to answer you. It is pointless and also boring just repeated cut-and-paste Frenzied Berserkers and Summoner Druids over and over again to these sorts of questions.

I'm not trying to offend you--just explain why the boardmembers responded the way that they did (Funny is pretty subtle).

Greater Skillfocus is good, but have you considered going Rogue 10? If you do a lot of competition weaving, Skill Mastery comes in very handy as many weavers tend to crack under the pressure and if you find yourself starting to chip you can at least fall back and count on taking a ten to get by.

Really it depends on where and when you'll be doing your weaving. Expert is probably best for weavers who have plenty of time to get their craft done.

for items i would go for a +5 piece of mithril cheeze

10th level commoner.
Teamshibi

01-21-04, 08:21 AM
Well, so far I can see that the basketweavers are clearly dominant at level 10. The commoner DOES sound rather powerful though and with a mithril cheese you cant go wrong either. Keep the replies coming guys, I am learning alot! j/k. Thanks for the few serious responses thus far.

Again, It doesnt matter if there is no meaningful answer! Its just an opinionated poll of sorts, only with an explination added in.

Be a thief.

Replace the clerics holy symbol with a desecrated unholy symbol thingee.

Just steal the wizards reagent box.

Steal the paladins sword... but put it in the barbarians backpack.

A bit of astringent in the bard's ale will shut him up.

Tie the monks sandals together.

This buys you enough time to steal all their gold.

go to the bar and use your gather information to find out where the local assassin's guild is. Use all that gold to take out a hit on each member of the team.

oh yeah... and take leadership and a recruit pixie illusionist cohort.

Why bother with a lame prestige class like arcane trickster... when you can have a rogue AND a caster.

Max ranks in bluff too. ooooh yeah.

Bard 10

Human(for extra feats)

Feats:
1)Spell Focus(Conjuration)
2)Augmented Summoning
3)Improved Initiative
4)Dodge
5)Defensive Casting

Take the Highest level summoning spell you can. Then only summon celestial type creatures. Put your highest attribute into Dex, then Cha. Max out jump and tumble ranks. Always cast defensively. This will bump up your AC quite a bit. Go invisible, summon lots of monsters. You never lose invisibility that way. Not uber powerful, but obnoxious to the DM! :)
