Okay, so a discussion on the Savage Species board started about if Monster Class levels count with the UA LA buyoff. It didn't (*see below) but....

VoP grants abilities based on Character Level. One could argue with your DM that this class levels count, even though Monster HD + LA would not count.

While Polymorphed, et. al.,
"You retain all extraordinary special attacks and qualities derived from class levels." and
"You lose extraordinary special attacks and qualities not derived from class levels."
With Monster Classes, those racial abilities are now recieved via class levels.

A plausible exploit? The 3.5 Monster Classes rules are rather terse and and reference the Savage Species rules.

*Nowhere is "Character Class" revised to include Monster Classes nor do the Monster Class rules state that they should be treated as Character Classes. "Character Classes" are the PHB base classes and PrCs only, according to the PHB Glossary anyway.

I'd say do it. The rare DM who will allow Monsters (beyond Monstrous Humanoids, and the occasional miniscule Giant) as Player Characters, and is enforcing the Monster Class Levels rule from SS, should indeed be willing to accept that sooner or later, someone will take VoP to go with it, and give it to them.

I would.

Of course, that's just my opinion.
